Last night's "Once Upon a Time" episode

- So Greek myths are in too, I guess? That's cool. I am going to take this as a sign that Thor/OUAT crossover fic is completely legit. (If the Greek gods are allowed in, surely we can't discriminate against the Norse!) And OMG the sudden relevance of this amazing fanart post. (Fandral, in Thor, is played by Josh Dallas, aka Prince Charming ( Read more... )

Yay welcome to camp "Gold/Rumps is completely awake". We meet every Sunday ;) I kid.

But I hope he isn't involved in everyone's but I AM looking forward to him and Belle (and Red, if that EVER happens) I look forward for the next few weeks they will be intense!!

*sigh* I was stubbornly resisting it. It seemed too obvious.

OTOH, Gold/Rumpels as all-knowing, other-worldly trickster is pretty damn cool. (And I can still play with the idea of Gold knowing nothing in my Gold-knows-nothing AU. Yay, fic, letting us have it every way.)

I am curious about what he has to do with Belle and what they'll do with her storyline in general.

Btw, YIKES, I am so sorry I didn't get to your fic when I said I would. I had a small window I needed to do it in before things got really busy again and then... I missed it. I'd still be happy to do it as soon as I can, but if you're eager to post it soon and don't feel like my feedback is necessary, feel free. Sorry!

It's fine! I can wait. I do need you as you've pointed out! I don't have much free time either so I know how it is.

Ha! My first reaction was Well, that ruined a perfectly fine sword. Guess he will use it as decoration now. Imagine my surprise when he used it to kill the dragon. I'm just going to believe it was ~speshul gold. Extra strong. Or something. ;)

I've been in that camp since he used 'please' in the scene with Regina and the tree. Pull up a chair. It's fun here. *hands out candy*

I think he ~is involved in every character's backstory. That's why he owns the town. Not sure exactly how it works since nobody remembers the deals they made, but yeah.

Yeah. Special gold. lol

And re the other special Gold (ha! pun! ...sorry) I think all his deals somehow translate into other deals in the curse world, like the one he made with Cinderella / Ashley and her boyfriend's father. So yeah, he owns the town, as you said, but I'd thought Regina was largely responsible for that, since he made that deal with her asking her to make him rich and comfortable. But I guess that just meant that she wouldn't nullify all his success in trading with everybody but would leave out Cinderella/Thomas/Charming/Snow/Blue-Fairy's success in capturing him.

Thanks for the candy. It'd definitely occurred to me that he probably knew everything; I just didn't feel like it had necessarily been confirmed.

Ooh, hadn't thought about the Cinderella/Ashley deal. That's good! That could totally work. *thinks about it for a while*

I don't know how much control Regina had over the building/structure of Storybrooke. How much was her and how much was already set in stone. She had to have had ~some control over it or she wouldn't have been able to make that deal with Gold. And did Gold have a hand in creating the curse since he knew about the loophole? Where did he get it and from whom.

I've got so many questions about this guy it's going to drive me mad. *lol*

The intro voiceover due is clearly fucking with us.

For a little bit, I thought it was Gold who knew everything and that Regina was just beginning to figure things out. I read that scene between the two of them in "The Thing You Love Most" as him trying to get a reaction out of her (mentioning things he knew meant something to her when she was the Evil Queen) and her trying to figure out wtf was going on (why the name "Henry" seemed so important, why she couldn't say no to him when he said "please"). But other actions/reactions of hers have made me think that she actually is completely aware of her past life in the fairytale world.

I guess they both know?

Yes about the sword! That bugged the hell out of me. I was completely shocked when he not only pulled out the gold sword to use but it WORKED. I guess it's special magic gold? IDK. Or maybe the writers know nothing about gold. (Also the bit where Midas' men picked up the gold dragon head like it was nothing had me shaking my head.)

I'm still on the fence about how much Gold knows but he definitely knows something. I just want to know his angle because we know he has one and it's all about him ending up on top. I see him as very grey and happy to help either side so long as it benefits him.

As for not wanting him in All the Backstories I don't think that there is any point in fighting it. Obviously (as a fan) I'm good with Rumpel as the thread that ties it all together but I think it works on a story level as well.

I think they just decided it was a case of cool idea >> reality. Whatever.

Yes, that's how I see him too. He's basically a wily war profiteer.

As for not wanting him in All the Backstories I don't think that there is any point in fighting it.

You're right. I should just embrace it. I guess I'm just afraid he'll wear out his awesomeness. Carlyle's performance is wonderfully hammy, but I don't know -- eventually the punctuating every few words with a silly gesture and weird emphasis thing may start to just become annoying instead of fun. I feel very disloyal and complainy saying this, but it's how I felt during this episode. :[ lol I will endeavor to shake this off.
