THE ROOM: the experience

May 11, 2012 21:15

Oh, hi guys.

Btw, I recently saw this movie. This one... (<--- the Nostalgia Critic reacts.) It wasn't at all the first time I'd seen it, but it was my first time seeing it screened. Tommy and "Mark" (Greg) were actually there, throwing a football around with fans before the movie started. It was... neat. Surreal. I did enjoy the practiced responses of the "fans" who'd clearly been to previous screenings (or who had at least had read up on it at on the intertubes):

MARK: What's going on? I mean... The candles....
AUDIENCE (chanting): WHAT CANDLES.
MARK: The music.
AUDIENCE (chanting): WHAT MUSIC.
MARK: The sexy dress.
AUDIENCE (chanting): WHAT SEXY DRESS.

Or every shot spanning the Golden Gate Bridge ("GO. GO. GO. GO. GO. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!") except for the one time it was cut short before reaching the end fo the bridge ("GO. GO. GO. Ohhhhhhhwww.

Or this moment:

LISA-IN-THE-ROOM: I need to see you.
MARK-IN-A-CAR: What's going on?
AUDIENCE-MEMBER: You're both on the same humungous phone!

LISA'S MOTHER, CLAUDETTE: Johnny has a good job. And you know you can't support yourself!
AUDIENCE MEMBER: BECAUSE YOU'RE A WOMAN.

Or the way everybody just burst into applause after this scene: Oh hi doggy!

And of course the spoon-throwing (every time the random framed picture of a spoon on a coffee table in Lisa and Johnny's "room" came into view -- or any time the audience felt like it).

Good times.
