Opening your coolant when the car was hot was actually the first no no. It gets very pressurized in the coolant lines when the car gets hot. But if nothing jetted out, that's fine I think. Putting in coolant then it being at the same level could have to do with changes in temperature, also, are you sure you got the right kind of coolant? I know certain Gm models of cars take one type, but there's another kind thats more common. Wish I could be more specific, but that's the extent of my knowledge.
Hopefully your radiator didn't completely go though. That would be the suck.
Good luck with all that though. Car problems are never fun to have.
Yeah, its the radiator's coolant compartment that gets pressurized, but I have a separate tank in my car that your supposed to refill instead. Yeah I definitely wasn't going to try to open the cap on the radiator, I've heard you can burn yourself real bad. Maybe the type of coolant isn't right, who knows, although my car's manual didn't mention having to use specific types. Yeah really hope its not the radiator tho lol.
Did you try flushing out the coolant yet and then refilling it? Maybe that's the problam? Fancy little separate filling area you've got there. Or maybe it's just that my car is extremely unfancy :P. This is probably the case.
Aww I'm so sorry to hear about your crappy day Steve :-(
Bad days are okay though, because then you know that a really good one is coming up because of karma or something. And this sounds like a pretty bad day, so it can only go up from here :-)
Oh...and I'm only 15 minutes away from Crazy Pete...

So if you could just do that as soon as it gets dark, that'd be nice.
