Well, I am really curious to know who you could imagine as Maturin, apart from Paul Bettany?
For me, Jonathan Pryce IS Stephen Maturin. Want proof? Check this out!

Wow! That's actually quite an interesting thought. I hadn't even considered him because I have only ever seen him in the wrong sort of wig but I think that works. *convinced*

it's from the movie "the baron von munchausen", by Terry Gilliam (with quite an incredible casting, like Uma Thurman and Robin Williams).
When I read the books, I really think of this guy instead of Bettany. I love Bettany, but I do think he is a little too tall, handsome and gentle-looking for Maturin.
