It's been a long
Josh and I tried to buy the condo below us. "Tried" being the key word. After going through the back-and-forth, and a crazy
home inspection, all of which felt like forever, the mortgage broker changed lenders. This was after we had fired our original real estate agent because he doesn't know how to communicate effectively. Let's just say it involved me yelling at a man at 7:30 a.m. because I didn't have access to the space that I was promised. (And you all know not to fuck with me in the morning.) Due to the subprime craziness, our payment skyrocketed to 1,200/month. Since we told them that all we could afford is 1,000/month, we just had to give up. It totaled about a month's worth of work, with Josh doing most of it. And not to mention the fact that he paid for a home inspection and mold testing. And even better, the test came back positive! It was really crazy and made me nearly cry once. Ah, the joys of real estate.
Tonka went to the vet with an ear infection. He was put on a pill and topical ointment and now he's great. I really like our vet, Dr. Ford at Peachtree Animal Hospital. She's great with Tonka and when Josh asks her some random question, she will literally look it up for us while we're there and tell us.
Josh is doing well, too. He's been rather busy this month, with class, work, and taking care of his family. His mother went to the hospital last week, and they never figured out what it was. But now everyone seems to think it was some kind of pinched nerve, and after some light physical therapy and Josh's magic, she's feeling much better. Yay! However, his grandmother is not so well. Her tremors are getting worse (I'm not really sure what they are from.), and there is talk of assisted living. Of course, she's not keen on it. So yay for family drama, he said sarcastically.
Josh passed a big class at school involving herbs, so now he has all this knowledge and is getting raw herbs shipped to our home. Soon I will be living in a Chinese pharmacy. lol. But apparently, he's saving insane amounts of money buying his own herbs. So I just can't wait to have you over for gross Chinese tea that will help balance your chi. Maybe he'll stick needles in you while we sip.
I just realized I haven't told you about all my birthday fun. First, it started with Josh caving and giving me my Wii early. He apparently had bought it a month prior, but when I started checking GameStops and other shops for Wiis, he finally decided to give it to me, in case I actually bought one. And OMG it is the best thing ever! It's one of the main reasons I haven't updated my LJ in so long. And he had planned a surprise b-day party for me, but he went ahead and told me about it so I wouldn't buy a bunch of Wii stuff. I got 3 games, 2000 Wii Points, and a $30 Fry's gift card. The games are Resident Evil 4, Mario Party 8, and WarioWare: Smooth Moves. I love them all and especially love my original purchase of The Legend of Zelda. I've logged over 10 hours on the game. Sad, I know. But the party was great, and there was lots of food and it was yummy. :)
My 3-month anniversary is coming up at the Puppet Palace. I'm hoping that it means an employee evaluation and a raise. (crosses fingers) I like money. Speaking of money, I've become a super-saver and now actually have a buffer in my checking account. How cool is that? I blame Josh and my mother. Josh is teaching me how to save and my momma taught me how to shop.
We've been hanging out with our friends Peter and Eric more often, and they are a blast. They are snarky like us and always have witty and pithy things to say. They are so much fun to double date with. Oh, I should schedule a dinner date with them. Hmmm.
Oh, and I was in a play about a drag queen at Georgia State.
Here's proof. Well, at least proof that I was in drag. It was my first time on stage since 2004. It was both challenging and rewarding. There is a good chance that I will continue working with the GSU Theatre department, but maybe as a stage manager for their spring production. $2,000 stipend to boss people around? Yes, please!
I recently acquired Rilo Kiley's latest album Under the Blacklight. It's a big departure from their older stuff. I like it, but still miss the old Rilo Kiley sound. And I hate the last track. But I'm in love with the first single from the album, The Moneymaker. (shrugs) It's a sexy song.

EDIT: I just purchased my tix for Rilo Kiley at the Variety on Sept. 29. Yay!
