I wouldn't look for a bipartisan endorsement prior to the selection of the nominee. After the conventions there is much more need for bipartisan support, but there are as many party partisans that would vote against someone for that sort of appeal and as primary's tend to turn out only the most involved voters, it would help very little coming into the mostly closed primary states that are coming up.

Lieberman I think was a bit different as he is technically an independent, and was all but disowned by the Democratic party in favor of Ned Lamont.

Although what Gov. Sanford of South Carolina said that was verging on an endorsement was interesting and I think ultimately helped Obama there considering Sanfords popularity.

With Lincoln Chaffee now out of office anyway as well as pretty much every moderate Republican who stood for reelection in 2006 getting voted out in the Democratic landslide, I think the only senator even remotely centrist enough would be Sen. Dick Luger (Who is a friend of Obamas reportedly).
