005 .ЯR. December 10 -- History is Written By the Victors

Dec 10, 2011 16:46

[There's a blip on the feed, the only sign that there's an incoming transmission, but it doesn't last long, as if someone started broadcasting but thought better of it before it had a chance to turn on fully.  A few minutes later there's another, only this time it stays on, although there's no video.

The VOICE that comes on is recognizably Rorschach ( Read more... )

pass the brain bleach, my warden is not an owl substitute, [verse]: last voyages, irrational overreactions are how i roll, rorschach will not tolerate bullshit, normal human urges are for other people

[Carla had given herself a patrol. As many of the habitable decks as possible trying to get the lay of the land, hiding places, that sort of thing.

It's hard not to be on the ball about this. It's hard not to think about it in terms of a job. So she's got her uniform on. No gun, just a bat, a big ugly silver bat that's got what looks like dried blood and is carried in a special harness on her back.

Beyond that however, she's just a regular cop-keeping an eye on everything.]

[...Great. A cop. Because this is just what he needs right now on top of everything else, a member of the one legal profession he has nothing but the utmost disdain for. ...Aside from defense lawyers, anyway.

He sneers as he passes, loathing all too evident in his usually blank expression, and while he might not make an effort to start something (if she's a cop she's probably a Warden, and while he may hate the system he's not about to go around assaulting the ones supposedly in charge unprovoked) he certainly doesn't seem as passive about the encounter as might be in his best interests. It's a carefully veiled challenge; yeah, I've got a problem with you, what are you going to do about it?]

[Carla raises an eyebrow and nods mutely. Nothing but a casual pass. This guy looks like a criminal. He really does. Therefore she's not going to condescend to speak.

Is that a little contempt there? Maybe.]

Typical.

[The comment's out of his mouth before he can think to check it, more judgmental snarl than simple word, but then he doesn't really care anyway. It's an excuse, a taunt, something to provoke a reaction because he can't handle these thoughts in his head without an avenue to vent them, he can't stand the restlessness and inactivity that comes with his sentence.]

[Carla raised an eyebrow] ...I'm sorry?

[delicate, polite and to the point.]

[And now he stops, turns to face her, and while his expression is no less irritated, his words are calm. Detached.]

[the corner of her mouth tilts upward in a smirk. Then she closes her eyes and folds her arms across her chest before dropping them. Non-threatening. See?]

...My badge is-just a badge.

Never said it wasn't.

Doesn't make the observation less true; familiar enough with cops. Know how they operate.

[Her non-threatening? Is only frustrating him further.]

[Carla takes a step forward, leaning back with her hands on her belt-slightly confrontational.]

I'm not most cops. Not while we're here. We gonna have a problem?

[He raises his chin in defiance and holds his ground.]

Depends.

[Totally blank and playing by the rules]

...On what?

[One step forward, fists clenching and unclenching, as if in anticipation.]

You. Make it a problem, we'll have one.

[Okay. That's enough. She reaches for his hand to pin him against the wall.]

That's it buddy. You're asking for trouble. Time to take a walk back to your cell.

[She might reach, but he's not letting her keep it for long; he twists and shifts his weight, grabbing her wrist with the hand that isn't the target and twisting, digging fingers in to pinch the nerve there as he moves to wrench her arm back in an attempt to turn the move around on her. It's sloppy, the movements less fluid than they should be, but it doesn't stop him from trying.]

Don't need an escort.

[Carla moves to drop to her knees. She'll try to make the grab again, once she's got him off his feet which she'll do with a well placed kick to the leg.]

[This time she's more successful; he doesn't anticipate the movement, so the kick catches him off-guard and down he goes, with a snarl of protest. He won't let her make the grab so easily though, since once he's down he rolls away, trying to get his feet back under him as he kicks out at where she is.]
