Thank you Jon. It was probably the biggest culture thing I had done. As a social thing? it was a eye opening event. Now that it is a year later, it is a change I'm glad that it took place
Very nice surroundings! That is one thing I do not understand about Durham. People move way out to be in subdivisions or have neighbors in site. If you going out get out like you guys are!
when talking to roomy prior to moving, I had thought of giving it a year or so as a trial and to get my affairs in order. moving back to the city-ness that Kent/Federal Way is, was an option I was keeping open. Now, not an open option. I like the hermit-ness this place has to offer
For what you have gone through in the last year, I really feel sorry/sad for you. We both had life altering events take place, but yours is/was way more heart breaking then mine.
does the country/woods still seem appealing to you?
I live about 1km from some pretty deep forest. It's where I go mountain bike riding, and one of the reasons we moved to this house. It's easy for me to get into the middle of nowhere. What I miss is the quiet, bird song, wildlife, etc.
After a few gadgets, a couple tweekings and hobby supply build up, this place will be like it was prior to leaving the population.
after having been stranded here for 6 days in a row (due to snow storm in january), finding things to do was easier then I thought, boredom was never an issue
We have a cabin or as they say in Canada a cottage on a lake that when we first got it could only be accessed by boat, it now has a very rough road. But it is rural and when we go we will be there for maybe three hours before Gus says ok lets go. I love it but it is just to quiet for him, so we do not go often ;-[)
with the culture change that took place for me, and the passing of my Zorro, the friendship took a hit. but after time had passed, issues dealt with, realizations set in, things between us has improved greatly.
last 1/2 mile (or so) to the house, is a compacted dirt road.
Gus's 3 hour thingy is the way Liam (roomy's name) is about populated areas. the city is ok, things needs to get done, so trips to them are needed.
