The ocean killed me

Apr 02, 2010 15:02

Josh and I randomly went to the sea yesterday. Drove out to the far end of Ocean shores, out to one of those crappy bulkheads and saw that the wind had really come up and was stirring up the sea. So we got up on the bulkhead so I could get some photos of the waves cresting. What I ended up with was a wave coming right over the top and down onto me ( Read more... )

Lovelovelove your pic of the ocean. We've got the Gulf of Mexico here, but it's pretty much gross & dirty and doesn't get stirred up like that. Without a hurricane, anyway. Hope you're all warmed up and I'm glad Mother, Mother Ocean didn't abscond with you.

Haha. While I was out there in Ocean Shores, which is a peninsula, I was remarking on how like a barrier island it was, and how I wished we could have a hurricane...

Ahaha yes, the ocean! It does something like that every. damn. time. I need to give it another opportunity this year, I think. :D

Oh, writing? Yes, do! /promises

Yes, the ocean. It has never succeeded in killing me, though it has tried many times. And I just continue to taunt it. It couldn't kill me any of the times I went swimming at night in the winter. A man-o-War jellyfish didn't even do it.

You seem like the sort of person who would join me in flinging myself into the sea, then laughing at it's pathetic attempts to drag me under. I say we pay it a visit next time you're up!

Ooooh, at night in the winter?? That sounds AWESOME! *____* I've only gone swimming in the summer like a halfway-sane person, but yes, I would totally be up for that! >:D

I did swim in Lake Tahoe briefly one night during the ski trip, though. (VERY briefly. My one drunk friend who was still up said he wasn't going in after me if I had a heart attack and died, so I decided to take it easy a little.)

Glad you survived. I have a habit of swimming in the local lake while there is snow on the ground myself. Haven't died yet!

I always bring a thermos of spiced tea to get the blood moving again.

Ooo, ocean! I haven't been swimming in the ocean for years. We should do that some time this summer, perhaps. And maybe once I'm used to it in summer, I'll be more willing to join you and Nika in winter... ;)

And yes, please share writing! You know that I won't make fun of you.

Yeah, and we could bring all kinds of warm things along. It aint chicken to avoid hypothermia.

yay ocean! Obviously, once the boat is paid off, we must take a little out-n-back so far out that you can't see land and then you'll be like, "wait, the ocean really could eat me out here!"
I promise not to make fun of any writing, either!!!

Yeah, I don't think I've ever been out that far on a sailboat.

I'll have to make sure I wont get seasick first though. I have an EXTREME phobia of vomiting.

That's what the scopolamine patch is for.

Does that help with anxiety? This is so stupid, but I think it's just my fear of being sick that makes me sick.

Well, maybe we could take smaller trips to get me used to it?
