A dude by any other name

Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush....these women of American politics all carried the honorific term, "First Lady".  But what if Hillary wins the presidency?  What will Bill Clinton's new title be?  First Man?  First Gentleman?  First Husband?  Whatevs.

IF Hillary Clinton wins the presidency, she may not want to make many references to her husband. I know the former president has appeared at some events with her in recent weeks, but that is quite different from having him spending much time doing the "first lady" thing. Who knows. If I were her, I'd make it payback time and he'd want to stay clear and avoid those comparisons.

You're right that Americans need to start thinking of how to deal with the inevitable. Even if Hillary doesn't become the next US president, there will be another woman at some point.

I guess the French were asking themselves the same question, however, as Sarkozy and Royal combatted each other for the presidential palace. What was their answer to this conundrum?
