There has been quite a lot of damage done by "churches" and faiths of all sorts, but were we to eliminate expressions of spirituality horrible acts would nonetheless be committed for other causes. Of course, that is no justification for unspeakable acts and atrocities, or even mundane kookiness; only a response by one reactionary way of thought to another. Organized life, call it Society, is troublesome. I think it is something to do with Humanity being jerky by nature. And I'm working on that.

But Humanity and all its diversity is fascinating, no?

Well, I wasn't suggesting that religion/god was the root of all evil in the world, nor do I assert that abolishing god/religion would be a cureall for society's ills. It was more of a comment on the over-inflated "goodness" of churches, whereas people seem to have no difficulty in shirking their responsibility in the crimes of the church(es), and not simply retreating to the easy historical intances which are obviously immoral to the point they hardly deserve note anymore (such as the crusades, and the Inquisition), except in the face of obtuse theologists which purport the perfection of religion ( ... )
