Hillary Clinton conceded today.  Barack Obama has finally emerged as the democratic candidate for president.

This was a fascinating parade of delusion campaign.  The democrats truly have made history, and will again in November, no matter who wins.  But what really floored me were the rabid Obama fans denouncing Clinton for "splitting up the party" ( Read more... )

It dawned on me to compare Obama to JFK as well, actually, not in terms of his potential skill to a misconstrued legend, but in terms of his charisma - and, unfortunately, in terms of his similar potential for an abruptly ended term of office. It makes me nervous, to see this particular echo. I don't like it, and I don't like what it might do to the country.

I definitely prefer Obama for office than the other candidates. Those of my friends to whom I have made this observation tell me they don't think it's likely. I hope their optimistic predictions are more accurate than my own.
