Still toiling away on my field notes, and some other stuff. And it snowed here, albeit briefly. Yes, that's the sad little charcoal eyes and onion nose there. We were out of carrots.

You call that off road? anonymous December 19 2008, 01:45:13 UTC
That muddy road looks a lot like what I drove through south of the Grand Canyon this summer... in Dad's minivan! Have fun on your trip!

These things never translate to pictures - you wouldn't believe how bad those ruts and hills looked in person. I'd have sworn that Landy would never make it through some of them and we'd have to get winched. Still, fun, and I'm pretty sure I damaged their vehicle.

......Why are so many people (well, you and iPhone fella there) taking pictures of the pasty muffin burlesque? I think I'd want that erased from my memory ASAP.

Nice mud! All we get here is sand - much easier to wash out of clothes, but much more likely to work its way into one's underwear.

Hope you are having an excellent holidays, and am looking forward to yours and the Bood's next round of Namibian photos. I am travelling vicariously through you now....

We were also encouraged to 'whoop' and such during the show by the emcee. Apparently British folks are genetically incapable of spontaneous enthusiasm - it was painful to watch them try.

And I'd rather have sand. I'll be plowing through flooded arroyos this trip and I prefer a nice firm bottom. Which brings us back to the disappointing Yorkshire burlesque (rim-shot).

I'll make sure to take lots of shots but one day you'll have to free up a few weeks and see Namibia for yourself. If you can spot diamonds in the raw we might have to go for a discreet wander at the beach.
