It amazes me that in the twenty first century there are still primitive tribes in the world. I thought that the Amish were a throwback, but this is amazing. I could not live like that. I am too attached to my cable tv and computer to live in a bamboo hut and fight off snakes and hyenas in the night. I have to give you credit for surviving in these conditions. Great pictures as usual. I am just curious about what you are searching for? Ancient civilizations or possibly the Ark of the Covenant? I am told that the Ark is currently in a temple in Ethiopia guarded by Monks. I saw this on the Discovery channel. I love my cable.

Africa-that-was still lingers here and there, although it's getting really hard to find. Read a story once about a guy who, bushwacking in the Congo, came on a fisherman who'd just has some luck. When he asked if he could trade something for the fish, the guy whipped out his cell phone to check the local prices for the day, then said 'Five dollars, American' in passable english. Africa isn't what it used to be.
But eating honey in the mountains at lunch, surfing the web at dinner - is it too much to ask for both?
Oh, and I hear those Ethiopian monks are shining folks about the Ark - whenever asked to produce it they plead sacred and won't allow anybody a look. I'm callin' bullshit.

If the true Ark were found I wonder who would have the best claim to it? I would hope that it would go to the Smithsonian and not some vast warehouse as in Indian Jones.
I know what you mean, but the image that has stayed with me was from the road accident I wrote about earlier. Wasn't bodies or bloodstains, although they were no picnic. Nay, it was the walking sticks and personal effects strewn along the road. Would that I could have taken a picture but it felt indecent to do so.
Write about it and sketch it, you will always have it. I missed the entry about the honey bucket until just now. So excited! My other treasures are adorning my mom's 80th birthday buffet scheduled for tomorrow-they always get a comment. ma
I thought I should finally leave a comment after reading these for quite some time. This one was a doozy. It will be nice to have you "home" for a while. We had a great time with your number one wife last weekend.
