Today I bought a Christmas/Housewarming prezzie for myself. A 40" LCD TV :)

After a lot of research, this is the one I bought: http://www.samsung.com/au/products/tv/lcdtv/la40r71bd.asp

Now to set it up and check out the HDTV goodness :)

That's worth more than my car!

*drools* glad you didn't go plasma anyway (price aside) they seem to fade after about 18 months apparently. Happy viewing :-)

Cheers.

Yea, there was no way I was going to buy a plasma. LCD all the way!

The viewing angle is nothing short of spectacular! 178 degrees! To be outside that viewing angle, you would pretty much have to be viewing the TV side on.

And 5000:1 contrast ratio! *drool*

/me likes his new toy

After doing a fair bit of negotiating, and "i can get it over at that place for x dollars", with the Harvey Norman sales guy, I got it for $2864. Not bad since the sticker price was $3499.

P.S. Who is this?

Yea, what I did was look online for the absolute cheapest price i could find (which was $2864), and took a printout of that into a few different places to see if they could beat/match it. Harvey Norman was the only one willing to do so. I was happy with this, because I'd much rather buy from Harvey Norman than some random web site, in case something goes wrong with it and have to take it back.
