PS3 and 360 to have (potential) Wii functionality

Rummaging around Digg today, I saw that a third party has essentially given the 360 and PS3 the same capabilities as the Wii via a peripheral. Considering that some game pundits were essentially saying that the Wii was a Gamecube peripheral and nothing more, this isn't too surprising. Interesting, though. I think the fact Wii's is built in will be a difference maker. Peripherals seldom sell, because there's usually little support for them, because the customers don't want to spend game money(anything more than maybe 10 bucks) on something used to play a game unless it's an additional controller(basic type), typically because there's little support for them.

It's a vicious circle, usually helped marginally by a pack-in game with the peripheral...

Agreed, BD. As the article says, they can't tell us what the game companies will do, simply what they could do. This might end up like the EyeToy all over again. Some good potential, but without people developing for it, it wasn't that big.

I think EyeToy did better than some. Activator, anyone? Or even the PS2 HDD.
