FYI- There is a new book on “The HPV Vaccine Controversy: Sex, Cancer, God and Politics” authored by a board certified physician from Barnard college, Columbia University. It is available at amazon.com and Barnes and Noble .com and is written without the influence of any pharmaceutical company or special interest groups. No vaccine for me either.

The last time I went to my doctor, they didn't even offer me a choice, they just said "next doctor's visit we'll give you the vaccine." Um. No. I don't need it. I'm in a married, committed relationship and that's it. I'm so with you, why get the vaccine if I have no risk factors? I don't necessarily think that NO one should get it, but I know I don't need it, and yes, there is a risk with every vaccine.

That's like the stupid chicken pox vaccine. The chicken pox is mostly harmless. Why make a vaccine for a relatively harmless illness? Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? Totally different reasons I think, but an interesting conversation to have, nonetheless.

unless you're never having sex with anyone else, ever, than that is your only way of knowing for sure.
and since men don't generally show any physical manifestations of it, you can never REALLY be sure unless they have been tested too.

i've been through some pretty rough fucking shit because of HPV. not a good time.
