I'm getting ready to pack my cooler and head out to the final day of our city festival to see a band. The differences this year are A.) that I'm packing Diet Coke and Diet Dr. Pepper and not beer and B.) that this is Sunday and not Saturday ( Read more... )

Thanks, it was fun. And talking to drunk people when your not, is an interesting experience.

It's Only Rock n Roll....but I like it... anonymous August 29 2005, 01:47:21 UTC
I know what you mean, Steve. But then, look at the Stones...Mick is in his 60's and contrary to popular belief, Keith Richards only looks like he's been dead for 20 years. They're pulling in sold out crowds at $120 a pop ~~ not bad for old farts, eh? We aren't old, we're classic!! Hope you enjoyed the show!!

Yes Becky, we are classic. Twenty years ago, no one would believe that the Stones would still be on the road and pulling it off. I would have liked to see their upcoming Detroit appearance Wednesday, but by the time I made up my mind, only $300 tickets were left and that's a lot to pay for an outdoor show (or any show for that matter). And wouldn't you know it, Wednesday is the the day we're expecting our share of the rain from hurricane Katrina.

Me too, Steve. They're going to be here on September 24th (four days after my 49th birthday, no less) and I have really wanted to see them at least once before they need oxygen tanks on stage and Mick forgets the lyrics to "I can't get no..." but alas and alack, the concert here sold out within 24 hours of the tickets going on sale and lackus fundus got me again. I'm going to Hookahville with Kim this weekend--might be very soggy what with Katrina leftovers (it's already raining here and more to come). Even classic cars need garages ~~ I guess getting older is all a matter of perspective, huh?

Happy early Birthday!

Yeah, I've alway wanted to see the Stones, but it looks like it may never happen. I shouldn't complain. I've had chances to see them over the years, but I guess I've always shied away because they were such huge shows. That wouldn't bother me much now except for the likelihood that from most seats Mick would probably look like a tiny, fuzzy monkey bouncing about on a miniature stage.

The early news tonight had a shot of Mick getting off their plane (I think they landed in Flint for some reason). Someone handed him an umbrella and suddenly he was cracking up and handed it back. I didn't catch what happened, but a few steps later he was handed another one and went on his way with that big split coconut grin of his. Damn, he doesn't look sixty!

On the weather front, the weekend here is looking to be fabulous. I bet you get the same. Enjoy Hookahville.
