The big G update.

Late I know, but then I was late for everything at the Gathering.

Exhausting. Didn't get to do half of what I had wanted. In parts good, in others sucky.

Thursday - in the beginning. Arrived about 6pm, thus beginning the best 18 hours of the event. Tent up, into beer tent, you know the drill.

Friday - a game of two halves. Slight misunderstanding as to who was taking one of the Durham crowd. 1:30 ref/marshall meeting starts. Lots of administrative goodness. 3:30 meeting finishes. Immediately into Lions plot meeting. Our encounter sheets bore little resemblence to the plot schedule doc. So an hour or two later, a hastly amended (in green pen, no less) schedule produced.

Saturday - busy like a little bee, buzz buzz. Lots of marshalling. Spent a most of the time preventing people from battering themselves all over the tent/fences. Characters didn't destroy Bene, not through lack of a plan, just through someone yelling charge. Character hostages died.
Didn't get to run out an encounter.
The Tarantulas stole my plot! Three of my monsters got taken to the Taratulas camp. Bah!

Sunday - Nearly as busy. Didn't get to shower until 12. Didn't get to eat until 4. Discovered the joy of incomplete plot documents. There was a distinct lack of refs in the monster room Sunday morning, so I decided to help out. First sheet had what looked like memory aids for someone who already knew what their plot was. I handed it back to the monster room, as there was nothing to work with. The second was a little better, at least it covered what was wanted, although if I had set it up, I would have set it up with a little more background detail, so that when players ask for more info, they don't have to rely on NPC's. The take home lesson here is "Don't ask the monster room to run stuff that doesn't explicitly state what it is you want."

Monday - Rank whoring and the battle. First part, mages guild, enough said. Second part: Didn't get to see much of the battle - marshalling. Ran up the hill with the dragons, past two of the stones, and into the Lions. After this little fight was over, got to watch over the Belgians versus the Italians, also known as the MA against the Gryphons.

In general, I didn't have as much fun as I had hoped, but it wasn't a disaster.
