Well that was fun. Probably the 'funnest' event I've been to for a long while.
Lets break it down. Didn't pre-book, emailed my booking form a couple of days before the event. Bad Stevie.
Friday:
Arrived on site at around 7pm and got set up. Bounced at Amanda for a bit, "We get to play!"
Cuzco Inferno appeared in the main hall, and immediately tried to dismiss Sparkle (Pesky daemons - impersonate anyone they will)
Spent an hour or two roleplaying catching up. A little bit of singing and the setup for the games. The tail game was pretty much decided that night.
Cuzco wasn't particularly satisfied with the explainations of the deaths of the PB's. Not particularly lawful or just.
Saturday:
Cuzco was introduced to a wonderful game called 'wibble'. As an Astalonian, it is ideal as it is entirely rule-based. Played a bit of stick hunting and catapiller collecting, the latter being almost unavoidable. Watched the singles, doubles, and archery competitions. The archery winner ended up shooting from extreme range and in the fire pit before he finally missed.
The afternoon was the wide games, also known as hide and seek with swords. As the Lions had brought 'Team Specialist' rather than 'Team Smashy', we made a lovely fort with inspired defences (A big nettle patch that a couple of kilted Bears were 'struck down' into) before we got mullered. We did learn the value of detached healers and healer identification though.
Then it was the Ceilidh. Dave Rimmer persuaded a bunch of us to don kilts in an attempt to honour our hosts. There are photos out there. The dancing was cool. One point was all of the women I danced with could dance - not a conscious choice on my part.
This was the night that the couples started to form, leading the event to be dubbed 'There's something in the water.'
The entertainers competition was a giggle, opening with a rendition of of 'I hate you' that ended up more like a football chant. I agree with others, Cosaint may regret teaching that song. Dan Osb's poem was masterfully told.
Sunday:
Just happened.
I do not know whether Lions players as a whole would like such an event. Would you?
