I don't think asking MPs to prduce receipts for expenses and take the cheapest travel option is uncivilised. I'd say that presenting a receipt if you want to be reimbursed should be par for the course. That's certainly how it works in my job. If I'm travelling on business I get the cheapest transport and have to receipt everything or I don't get refunded. Why should it be any different for MPs/benefit claimants/whoever?

Well if they feel humiliated, not trusted, regarded with suspicion and treated like a bunch of idiots - well just don't come crying to us!
