This is pretty much the last call for memberships for ManorCon, and I really need to fill some more rooms with filkers ready to both entertain and be entertained in equal measure!

We aren't having a "headline guest", because I'm hoping

Can we get supporting memberships, for, say a tenner? Would that help blanace the budget at all? (In return, we get sent MP3 files of a couple of randomly selected songs from the con, soon after it's happened, maybe?)

I can't tell you how much I wish we could do this! Sidmouth, lack of money, and more importantly a lack of musical ability preclude me from signing up this year ... But I will get down to the business of practice again in September, and another time - who knows?!

I hear the cry of double-booking and lack of dosh, but really - no musical ability is NOT an accepted excuse ;-) We all tend to wurble along in whatever key we fancy. Or possibly a different one, depending on how the wind blows....

Since you say "practice again", implying that you have practiced in the past, you are probably a lot better than most of us who treat the 'p' word with distaste! And as A. says, lack of musical ability is no bar, "they also filk who only sit and listen". Those of us who perform need someone to be in the audience, after all!

The filkcon next February? It's not all that far from you (in Grantham). (No, I'm not on the committee for this one...)

We're in France that weekend, I'm afraid. I'm not really a performer in any case, so I think I'd possibly be a bit lost if I came.

Pfui - you perform more than I do. It's not a performer's con, it's one where Annie hopes people will feel happy and comfy joining in. Maybe a bit more sing-along than often happens, that's all she means by that. Annie would be appalled if anyone thought that lack of performance tendencies meant people felt it wasn't for them.

The France excuse is much more valid :-)
