My heart was breaking for Jack at the beginning. He was so broken and there didn't seem to be anything he and Tosh could do to find Ianto. I'm so glad Ianto's back. He is, isn't he? He's not going to just disappear back into the blackness, right? Poor Jack would be so devastated.
I'm intrigued to find out where Ianto's been and what's happened to him. I love the picture of him standing there in his elegant suit, but I hope the walking stick is just for looks and not because he was injured somehow. Even if he was though, at least Jack know he's alive.
I sort of glossed over that entire first part with them looking for him in my initial draft and zazajb called me on it. I was shamed into doing the research and then bullshitting my way through the technical aspects of it. Once I sat down to write it I was rather pleased with the results. Ianto's back. I'm not writing anything else all uber-angsty like that for a long time. My nerves couldn't take it.
The walking stick is there mostly because I like the idea of it with the suit...and it's excellent for braining things like weevils. Ages ago I watched a Japanese import cartoon called The Big O (mostly because I thought the name was vaguely dirty) and the main guy wore a dark suit and stood around posing with a walking stick. That's sort of where that mental picture originated.
Hopefully, the next part will be up this weekend at the latest.
Oh he's back. There is no doubt about that. If I were a better writer I'd have strung it out longer and written a couple of stories with Jack being all angsty but I don't particularly like reading that much angst and I'm sure as shit not going to write it:)
Explanations (at least some of them) will be in the next part. It should be up by the weekend at the latest.
Oh - that was unexpected, although it does explane why he was always in the shadows - can't let Jack see him until he actually disappeared. Can't wait to hear the explanation.
