Today I will not be observing a minute of silence

The government wishes us to hold a minutes silence today. While I am sad for the thirty eight people who died in Tunisia, I see no special reason to remember them.

I see a government wanting to begin bombing in Syria.

I see a government wanting to demonise immigrants.

I see a government wanting to restrict freedoms.

Me too. It is sad about the 38,but just as sad about those who died in Israel, Syria, Gaza, Nigeria, France, Somalia, the US and all the other places. And while this country is, for some, at least better than some other countries, with still day-to-day civilisation, you are right and things are getting pretty bad for many.
