I join Tumblr last year and discord a month ago. I like Tumblr, but I find it a little lonely. Yes, I can see content, but I'm not confident how to interact with people. Maybe I'm wired in the blog scheme. As for Discord, I'm in a fanficbinding group; I like it, but I'm not certain that I knew how to take full advantage of the platform. I told a younger friend this weekend, and he was really puzzled about my fandom activities. I only share this with my husband and family, but not that much.
I know what you mean about Tumblr. You can comment on people's posts, or you can repost something and add your own comments, which the original poster will see (along with everyone else). But interaction isn't as efficient as it is here on LJ or other blogs.

I didn't know Discord has fanfic groups! Last time I had an account, it was to participate in a local Pokemon group.
The best way to find those groups is through Tumblr. I join some of them, but I don't really nail it. The ficbookbinding one, on the other hand, has been a lifesaver!
A lot of us moved to Dreamwidth of course, being fed up with all the Russian shenanigans.
What We Do in the Shadows = "The Office for vampires" is not wrong, lol. It's very silly but quite good. I think it's better than the film that inspired it, although that was also fun.
eta: I've had a Tumblr account since mid-2011 which makes me kinda sorta an Old there. Fandom and the way it interacts with itself is pretty different from mid-2000s LJ, though.

Yes, this is my safe haven. I like it nice and quiet. Non judge-y, people get me, my friends and me in the same comfortable hot tub.
