Nigerian Prince, meet the Dewsbury dressmaker

Today we received a spam email on our business account that caught my imagination. It seems a young English lady is in desperate straits. She must be legally married in order to claim her late father's fortune. Mayest thou, a single gentleman with a willingness to engage in a bit of harmless trickery, come to her timely aid?

OMG! This made me laugh so hard, I almost pissed myself! First of all, dearest Lucy, four years goes by in a flash, even when you are young. Just wait and you don't have to part with any of your "money" to a pretend "husband." Secondly, do not marry in order to get it now. It will still be there. Just get a freakin' job in the meantime. I mean a REAL job - not scamming on the internet. Ta-ta, talley-ho, and all that. Even the name Lucy Woolf sounds Just. Too. Typically. British. (Kind of like how "Ford Prefect" chose his name in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.)

This is begging to be written, but it would have to be Severus posing as the dressmaker.

Teddy, you should write it! I'd read it for sure.

Oh I agree thoroughly. An old family fortune, and a condition that was put on the inheritances in the 1800s and that no-one has thought to update since.

Yes, this exactly! I feel like I read a HGSS along these lines!

This was so funny. And then I tried to figure out if anyone would fall for it.
