One two and a half hour nap later...

So this morning I had another ultrasound and I just feel like seeing this doctor in Elmira is pretty pointless because nothing is wrong but I have to see him yet again in two weeks for my last ultrasound if I haven't had this baby yet. Stupid. Drove 40 mins there, saw the nurse for 5 minutes while she reemed ( Read more... )

That's gotta be the first time anyone ever said you weighed too much. Ignore her. :-)

I think I canceled some appointments that didn't seem necessary during my pregnancies. Still, it is the end of the pregnancy that is particularly tricky so EVEN I, who eschews doctor visits, even I say that you should go. Just reward yourself with something afterward because you did something you didn't want to do.

FYI we are so sick that you are not allowed to even LOOK at our house! No! Don't look! And no, we are not sick enough to go to the doctor. I swear.

Personally? I say don't worry about the weight, particularly iph you plan to nurse the baby. I'm not saying go crazy, just don't obsess or take it all too seriously ( ... )

It's so dumb because it's not like we're celebrities with personal chefs cooking every meal according to the "pregnancy diet". But she was basically trying to tell me why I'm carrying so much extra fluid is because the baby is "so big" (she estimated he's about 6.5 lbs), and that if I carry to my due date he'll be 8lbs which is way to large for me. She was like "When you gain weight, he gains weight too and you're not big enough for that". I have gained 45 lbs so far. And listening to everyone else's stories of how much they gained and how much their babies weighed makes me less inclined to listen to the doctors... no wait, nurse pretending to be doctor.

But then the doctor came in and said that he doesn't think it's a problem at all. So...... yeah.

Here by way of Psyllisa

You are absolutely right about ultrasound. When my wife Melissa was carrying our son Benjamin, we were "high risk" and had ultrasounds every other week. Every time, they would measure the baby and the estimated weight would bounce around like a ping-pong ball. We always knew which techs would measure him light or heavy. They estimated him to be 9.5 pounds 2 weeks before delivery. When he came out he was 7.5 pounds.
