Yes, I am the queen of all fuck ups

So what do you do when you write a snarky e-mail about a co-worker intended to go to a friend of yours in the office, and you accidentally send it to the co-worker it was about? I'm pretty sure you shoot yourself in the face, or at least quit your job.

no, you play it off like it was meant to be sent and set it up but unfortunately you have to act like a fool and maybe have that coworker read things that you'll have to deny and play off as a joke. i know that sucks, but i've done that before.. good luck!

Oh, no! That's definitely a Homer Simpson moment. I go with ballistik's advice: pretend it was intentional, and ask if he got it. You can say, "I was trying for funny, but when I re-read it, I wasn't sure if that came across." He'll say, "Oh, of course I knew it was a joke!"

Or you could buy him a beer and apologize. Either way.

Does it make me a bad person that I'm dying to know what it said? Probably.

Actually, what was said was fairly tame. This buyer tends to have constant emergencies for her orders, even though orders are supposed to be submitted only twice daily and we make exceptions for emergency situations. Her situations always seem to be emergencies, whether they really are or not. Anyway, she had her third emergency on Friday afternoon just before I was leaving and Nolan asked what the problem was after she came rushing into my cube as usual. He had his headphones on, so I said I'd e-mail him and all it said was "She just had her third "emergency" order of the day because the publisher wanted it right away." and I mistakenly typed it into the e-mail I'd opened to submit her order to the pub that already had her e-mail address in it, so I sent it to her instead and didn't notice until I got the read response that she'd read it. CURSES!

This is probably good enough to be fattening...

The hilarity of the situation just made me pop a chubby. Thank you for that.
