the only way that I could make sense of the headgear was if it actually WAS her hair!
of course that may be eccentric to your interpretation but I assure you I have given this some thought and the way the armour appears on/out've her makes this idea central to my understanding of BB's warsuit
I think its why Kirby put those directional lines into the black parts of her helm. It follows that there are locks of militarised (by a mother box or somesuch) hair playing over her mailed clavicle. Apokolips Stu-Stu-Studio Line styling gel!
The black straps arranged as a sort of collar from throat to mid-sternum have red fabric inder them - its the fastening for the cape (this hasty drawing does not follow through on this I might add)
