Out of the mouths of one sweet Sassy babe

Tonight at dinner Sassy pondered the conundrum of wanting to spend holidays with me - her primary and only real parent - and her father wanting her to spend both birthday and Christmas with him this year.

After a bit she blew out a breath and muttered: "It was so much easier before my dad decided to get involved in my life."

Oh baby...

So true. I saw it happen with my roommate and her daughter. The dad wasn't active for years and years, then he gets a job at the fancypants Waldorf school here, enrolls the daughter (13) and suddenly wants to be Mr. Parent! I often wonder if he would still try to be as active if he loses that job and has no Waldorf parents or staff to impress...

Anyway, hopefully you guys get it all smoothed out. It's hard to spend all your times with your child then suddenly have to split that up for the joyful occasions.

Yeah - he stepped up when he remarried and had another child. And she loves him and her sister and stepmom, but we have traditions for birthday and Christmas and like most people she loves her traditions and doesn't want to go spend those days with him and lose her traditions.

*sigh* I understand.
Sid and Lily's dad always wants to spend the fun days with them. The rest of the year I'm doing the grunt work. Seems very unfair.
