Escape from Noam Mountain

Here be the summary for Session 6 of Chuck's SGAA Changeling game, with less Morphine Oracles. I should have the 7th one up later this week, since the game was a wee bit shorter than the last two sessions. :)

And for those who won't be reading this, I present a cut.

With the wheelers wheeling their way to the party, session six began. Juan quickly brought two of the enemy under his control with aphrodisia as Memphis and Rook used quicksilver on the group. The SGAA deftly clashed against the wheelers with a mix of precise parry and attack, or hiding as in Lord Darkshire’s case. Memphis quickly climbed up the citadel to find any thing of use with a few wheelers in chase. Both Raz and Rook dispatched one wheeler each, discovering the wheeled menace blew up in a spectacular but painful way when damaged.

Memphis and Professor Bay used explosive coal like materials from the roof to attack wheelers below, the enemy seemed to be able to take quite the beating. Lord Darkshire managed to snipe a couple of Wheelers from his hiding place with Ensnare causing them to also explode spectacularly.

After a while, Rook decided to try hopscotching them away from the group, preferably causing them to fall from enough height to explode. Though this did not work, Juan was able to bring the rest under the effects of aphrodisia since they were clumped up in a small area.

After delivering a Juan-esque speech of spreading what was done this day, all but one of the wheelers left the citadel to spread said words. The remaining wheeler gave a tour of the place, labeling areas names that they were obviously not. Everyone eventually ended back in the oracle room to discuss options. Raz tried to take the spell off of one of the soldiers, but it managed to reform very quickly. Though Raz did end up with a piece of the spell.

After much discussion about the source of the stone malady, it was decided that the group should go see the Noam king, who was located in a mountain in the Sea of Sorrows.

As they were leaving, the group saw the wheelers coming back. Rook kept them at bay by constantly throwing them further away until the group reached the car. For Raz to experiment on later one of the stone citadel soldiers was grabbed, and the Citadel and wheelers were left behind.

The first obstacle the SGAA came upon between the citadel and the Noam king was the Forest of Lies. After seeing how treacherous roads turned out to be spike traps in the forest, it was decided that flying over it would be the way to go. After attempted to chop down trees for material, with the annoyingly violent tree being thrown into the spike trap, Raz decided to summon materials with Primal. Both Raz and Memphis labored intently to turn the car into a worthy air chariot of non-certain death.

After it was finished, it was a magnificent piece of work. Professor Bay, Memphis’s chimerical mini-dragon who had a degree in awesomology, powered the engine. A coin slot was set up to continually pay him to power it. Straps were added to the hood in case someone had to stand on it and fight. An emergency strap was added to the side in case Raz had to make repairs in flight. And the two even managed to keep Skyla’s fishbowl in tack in the trunk.

With the blaring of Magic Carpet Ride, the car took off. It successfully didn’t fall apart or crash. The forest tried to bring down the majestic chariot of the SGAA, but it was in vain and received fiery damage in return. As they flew, a orange flaming ball thing was noticed to be following them. The group landed just outside of the forest and the following swamp to check out what it was.

The fiery-floaty orb seemed to be tracking Skyla. Flutterfeet pointed out it was a willow wisp that someone was using to track her. After nonchalantly saying it wasn’t like Skyla was a princess, Memphis and the group discovered she was indeed the princess and daughter of Lord Thunderwave.

Moments later as if right on queue, a redcap and ogre walked out of the forest. The redcap was tracking Skyla on behalf of her father and intended to bring her back at all cost. After Memphis tried negotiating in a way that made the group question him, Juan tried using aphrodisia on the redcap (surprise, surprise). A Bogie appeared behind the group as he countered Juan’s cantrip. Rook also spotted a fourth member of the bounty hunter group and pointed it out to Sam.

Memphis intent on distracting the bounty hunters, kept up his negotiations to distract them. Finally Lord Darkshire and Rook tried to use two cantrips at the same time to get past the Bogie’s countering, but only Lord Darkshire’s Ensnare managed to affect the Redcap.

The battle was swift and brutal for the bounty hunters. The redcap went for Memphis, but Juan used his stick to order the redcap to eat the ogre. Rook went after the ogre. The fourth bounty hunter that was a Beastie jumped down and headed towards the fray. Raz turned the Bogie’s dark cloud into a workable material as Sam attacked the Bogie and took him down.

As the Beastie closed in, Mindy and Sam took him out. Rook miscalculated on a strike and ended up between the ogre and the redcap. Despite Memphis’s best efforts, the redcap bit Rook blue troll ass. Mindy shielded Rook from the ogre as he tried to take advantage of the troll with the new redcap as a tail.

Seeing that the day was lost, Frank, whose name was never discovered by the SGAA, turned tail and ran. Rook took a swipe at his ass, but it was Lord Darkshire that took the redcap out. Seeing all his mates dead, the ogre went back into the Forest of Lies to look for the women Memphis mentioned.

Raz seemed the happiest with the outcome, ending up with redcap teeth, Beastie teeth, and a new staff of Darkness for Lord Darkshire made from the Bogie. Rook made sure to give Raz any redcap teeth still in his ass. Memphis’s loyalty was question by some of the group and Juan took a victory dip in the bowl with Skyla and Chastity, who disguised herself as Skyla during the battle to help with the confusion.

After the encounter with the bounty hunters, the group began the flight over the swamp. Vicious plants and critters populated the area. Near the middle of the swamp, the weather suddenly worsened. The group decided to hover near one of the huts and ask permission to land. A witch suddenly appeared on the hood of the car and demanded to be compensated for the SGAA’s trespass.

The group went inside her hut, except for Raz. They discussed what could be done, and the witch revealed a rival of hers took a potion that she wanted back. Much was debated on if the group could offer something of equal value, but in the end it was decided to do as she asked, which she caged Mindy as collateral, since she could always use a Pooka tail.

Meanwhile, Raz after analyzing how to improve the flying car, had an idea. He tried to remove the spell from the Scathath stone knight. Being far enough from the citadel, Raz succeeded. The knight’s shock and confusion would last for quite a while.

The group made their way to the rival witch. Juan went up to the door, knocked and tried to dazzle her with a House Fiona strip-o-gram. Lord Darkshire, after egging from the group, decided to sneak into the back. The witch figured out what the group was up to and whisked them all inside. Juan still kept his shirt off.

After revealing their need for the potion and the witch’s refusal over several offers, the witch asked for Skyla’s head, rather than head from Skyla. Instead Lord Darkshire offered her the “ultimate” item, the Head of Vecna. He elaborated on the tale, saying Vecna was the prettiest wizard whose body hadn’t aged a day since she died. Being vain, she hid her tomb, for which the SGAA had the only map. In exchange for the blackened glamour sucking map that would have lead to Gertrude’s soul if it existed in the dreaming, the group made off with the drink. They heard the vain witch’s angry just as they arrived back to the first witch‘s hut.

With the handing over of the potion, Mindy was freed, though slightly nervous from the experience. After receiving her concoction, the witch revealed the purpose of the potion: to get really hammered. Still needing the material for he car, Rook hopscotched a turtle-gator to shore. Juan used aphrodisia to make the gator love to give the group its shell. After Raz finished his modifications, the group left and flew towards the outskirts of the Sea of Sorrow.

While next to the Sea of Sorrows, the group discovered the silver path ended, and that the sand dissolved stuff. The Scathath knight demanded the pressing forward, but the group was wary of going of the path. Cosmic pulled Memphis and Juan aside and revealed she could get them back on the path, but she didn’t want House Scathath to know about her involvement. With her discrete assurance, the group pressed forward, flying over the treacherous desert.

After dodging the obstacle of sand in the Sea of Sorrows, Memphis deftly parked the flying car into a cave. After some investigation, the Noam king revealed his face, and before pleasantries could be exchange the Scathath knight ran his mouth, provoking the Noam king to laugh and drop the floor below the group. The use of hopscotch managed to prevent the group from being injured and the car from being damaged.

As the group decided the next course, Memphis and the Scathath knight got into an argument. Juan jumped between them as Memphis was about to kick the knight in the nuts to interrupt his challenge, and the knight stormed off. After much work on Juan’s part, the knight reluctantly agreed he needed the group.

Being tired of waiting, Raz and the rest of the group decided to drive after some Goblins, to which everyone else caught up to the car quickly. The mine was quite impressive, though Raz bitched about the quality of the rock. A deep shaft revealed Goblins carrying all sorts of gems in carts on various tracks.

After driving and flying through the maze mine of a mountain, the group eventually ended up at a stargate like device that was sending wheelers to people who ordered them, probably from some Noam Shopping Network of sorts. Juan took advantage of the system by saying the SGAA needed to be shipped to the Noam throne room.

After turning into a sexy female Goblin, Chastity slipped in the order after causing the other Goblins to drool, among other fluidable mentions. After running out of the room and changing back, the SGAA went through the stargate and ended up in the throne room.

The group appeared in a room with the Noam king, some wheelers and a clockwork dude that immediately attracted Raz’s attention. After taking notes, the Noam king revealed to the group why his crack rock was special by showing he could change it into different minerals. Raz attempted to do the same and after several minutes succeeded, surprisingly impressing the Noam king.

In regards to the Scathath citadel, the Noam king said he would give three chances to find the cause in his treasure room. After which he would add the group member to his treasure collection. The knight went first and failed.

Then Raz went. He used his glasses first, then he tried to trace the treasure using the stone component he got earlier to trace it. With it Raz found the source, and a strange piece of pottery that was the source of the Noam King’s power. Raz asked the Noam king if his first choice was right, and the king said yes, but informed Raz that who said anything about letting him leave.

With that, Raz planted Imptronium explosive into the pot and informed the Noam King. After a brief scuffle, Raz detonated it and destroyed the Noam, freeing many Changelings in the process including the knight.

With the Noam king gone, Raz and Memphis grabbed as much treasure as possible before the mountain started falling. The car barely managed to hold all the freed Changelings, but it still flew. Over the Sea of Sorrows, the sand aggressively tried to grab the SGAA crew again. Many fell from the car, but Rook hop scotched them back to the car. With the end of the desert in sight, a last wave of sand was commanded by Juan’s stick to not hit them. Unfortunately the stick was castrated as a casualty in that effort to save the group.

The trip back was relatively quick to the citadel. Once their the knight broke the artifact, freeing the stone-cursed knights. After the refugees from the Noam king were settled in, the SGAA were able to see the Morphean Oracles.

They granted the group three questions. Gertrude was revealed to not be salvageable until her fairy soul met with its next life cycle. The second question revealed a darkness was coming. The third question, instead of taking the group home, revealed that the group should talk to Walter Denton, Rook’s grandfather.

With that the group went back to the car, was able to salvage 5 treasures, and left for home. Memphis made peace with the Scathath knight at this point. After noticing the town felt less dreamy when they returned, on advice from Cosmic they found a dreamer to wake up with. This happened to be Bellasandra, who in her dream was a nerdy girl looking for the missing group.

After waking up with her and the other unseelies in the room, it was revealed a month had gone by as the Changelings were running away from her screaming. Skyla also seemed to cross into the Autumn Realm just fine with a human body. The SGAA would spend the next couple of days recovering as their human bodies crashed and burn from a perceived month of no sleep and food.
