Session 8
Here be months late summary for the eighth session of Chuck's SGAA Changeling game. Hopefully Session 9 won't take as long for me to revise. ^_^
Raz begun making the components for Rook’s sword shortly after the encounter with the Morae. He now had a supply of oath steel, as well as Rook’s Asterion. He started with the disassembling of the Asterion to see how it work and if he could effectively put it into the sword. Then he began making the components and gears, with the climax being a fully formed chimerical sword that shifted weight favorably for the wielder as well as being able to compact itself into a short hilt/stick state. Raz hardened it chimerically so banality wouldn’t snuff it easily. He resolved later to make it into a treasure when he found some balefire or an equivalent material.
Also before the start of Session 8, Juan and Chastity were well under way in laying the foundations for Juan’s latest project, Dating Impossible. It would take time for him to see the fruits of his labor, but he had a good start.
During this time as well, Mindy was becoming more distant from the group. Though club members tried to talk to her, she would not reveal what ill was dogging her.
Bellasandra was absent from school since her latest failure. Both Juan and Memphis checked up on her. Juan was the more concerned and persistent. Memphis was the more direct, concerned with her latest plan possibly eating his head or something. Bellasandra turned both away.
But, at the start of the eight session of the SGAA Changeling game, a messenger appeared in the form of a doll. The annual homecoming challenge was issued by her for St. Bridget’s Changeling club, which involved a game of capture the pennon. This year St. Bridget desired to place a bet to make it more interesting in the form of dross.
After much consideration, the SGAA told the doll they would have to think on it until the last moment. Since ten dross was at stake, the SGAA had to first make sure they could place the bet.
A first attempt was made with Juan going unconscious to let Chastity harvest glamour from his dreams, but that proved to only take glamour away from his personal reserves. He woke up before anyone could smack him awake.
After Juan’s experience, the group went to check on Homecoming activities with the Student Council to make sure the lead up to the game and dance was full of excitement and glamour. Much to the dismay of the group, the council was forced to hire a DJ and to keep the activities on the down low, since the school board has been getting complaints of orgies and pedophilia.
After inspiring the council and convincing them to ignore the directive, the club went to work on fixing the banal coming. Rook called his sister to make sure she could perform, which she maniacally accepted.
Raz and Memphis went to break the news to the DJ and sabotage his equipment. Raz didn’t destroy the equipment completely, mainly out of sympathy. But Raz did unleash a small Fubar unto the gear. The DJ was now out of the picture, in regards to the homecoming.
Memphis then dealt with the school board member who was trying to hinder the homecoming fun by the way he knew best. He tied the member to Miss Gertrude’s pedophilia act with forged letters, then handed the proof over to a public television church show, slicing the school board member’s brake lines in a moral and metaphorical manner.
After the homecoming activities were fixed, the next day Raz and Rook looked around the school for dross, but every piece from painting to clarinet box they found was something the two weren’t willing to take or break. So they decided to drive around town. Place by place they found pieces of dross that they felt were okay to get, from a junkyard car part to a broken down cabinet. Seeing how money was tight between the two, Raz decided to call Juan. Raz also decided to save Rook from Sam’s possible wrath by not taking Rook to the next leg of the journey.
Meanwhile during the dross search, Memphis and Juan decided to visit Tony. They first asked him what was wrong with Bella, which he replied the latest mishap. After some discussion, Memphis and Juan decided to make her the homecoming queen and Tony the king. Tony rightfully was confused about that situation. Raz called Juan after this point to help with the dross search.
Raz and Juan went to an adult bookstore ran by a nice old lady. They found some more dross in the amateur literature section. They also went back to one of the antique stores and bought one of the pieces found earlier that Juan could afford. Then they (with Juan cross-dressing…don’t ask me why) went to lovers lane to look for some dross. Juan was dismayed that used condoms didn’t contain dross, but the street sign for that but of road did. After a brief jaunt to the cemetery that did not panned out, they quit for the night.
Memphis’s plan for Tony involved graffiti around the school about “Taking it back from the preppy bastards.” Memphis mainly aimed for the outcast write in vote. Juan painted a big mural of Bella. Both worked their social skills-fu as best as they could.
Near the time of the contest, the SGAA sent word they had the dross and accepted St. Bridget’s bet. Memphis felt Mindy should be part of the group for this and went to Raz to get him to talk to Mindy. Also many fake pennons were placed everywhere, and it was decided to put the club‘s pennon at the bottom of a lake..
Raz took some toys to Mindy and the had a long talk about the direction of the club and such. After she voiced her concerns about Memphis and Juan, Raz told her he felt better keeping an eye on them, and that there were more to the club than those two. She told him she would think about it, and she had to get back to the kids.
The day of the pennon the club waited around the flagpole. Just when everyone thought Mindy was not going to show up she did. Then a car with St. Bridget’s group arrived. The leader was an uptight asshole Eshu. Then there was a Boggan girl who had the doll from earlier with her. Then there was a buff looking Gwydion. And there was a Peacock Pooka that both Juan and Rook took an immediate disliking to.
After the dross was looked over by both sides, with a disdainful look by the Eshu, the pennons were respectively pumped a dot of Glamour and one hour was given to hide it. Memphis and Juan tried to give chase, but lost the car to a flicker flash.
The SGAA formed into three groups. Two to search and one to defend. Sam, Lord Darkshire, Skyla were left to defend. Memphis and Juan searched by car. Raz, Mindy and Rook followed Mindy’s bouncing ball.
Memphis and Juan saw the doll from earlier flying around. Juan used aphrodisia on it to make her need to check on her pennon, but they were not able to keep up with her, despite Memphis’s mad skillz in driving.
Raz, Mindy and Rook eventually followed Mindy’s bouncy ball to a house. As they came to the second floor, they saw the Gwydion sitting in the middle of the room, with the ball bouncing around him. The room however was booby trapped.
After some discussion with the Gwydion, Raz decided to try a bottled cantrip he had when he captured a spell the Love Eater from the Dreaming tried to use. He shook and sprayed it all over the room, hitting the Gwydion. The Sidhe immediately rushed Raz, dipped him and kissed Raz deeply. While Mindy was rolling on the floor laughing, Rook took a camera phone picture and send it to the rest of the club.
After going downstairs and discussing things civilly with the Sidhe, Raz could not figure out how to dismantle the spell. Rook then heard something and went back upstairs, seeing the doll from earlier putting one of the wall wood panels back in place. She immediately saw him and rushed him to find out what happened to the Sidhe with great concern. She succumbed to great laughter once the camera phone pic was shown to her.
After seeing Juan at the window. Rook yelled a greeting at him to cause the doll to direct her attention to Juan. Rook then hopscotched all the wall paneling and whatever was behind it from the area the doll was checking to him, including the flag. Then as the Sidhe was running back up the stairs from the doll’s yell, Rook used his Troll natural ability of “portal passage” on the nearest wall, running through it and falling to the ground.
Rook immediately dashed for Memphis’s car. The other three of St. Bridget’s Changelings appeared. The Boggan knitted a couple of cantrips that were cast at them, but Juan managed to get his main staple past them as he used aphrodisia to make them want Raz. Then the Gwydion came out and used Flickerflash on Memphis and Rook as they both used quicksilver to make their way to the goal.
Memphis and Rook ended up on the other side of town, but the amount of success they had with a duel quicksilver cantrip enabled them to get back to the flag pole with time to spare, winning the bet and surprising the love-struck Gwydion. After everyone, but Raz arrived at the flag pole, their was much friendly discussion between the groups, except for the Eshu. Juan cured the Gwydion of his love sickness, which made Raz very relieved.
The victory was very close, as the group of SGAA guarding the lake were almost defeated when the Bridget group was whisked to their pennon. Sam even attested that Bridget’s group raised the lake up.
After his love of Raz was squished, the cured Sidhe went back to his first love of combat and challenged Rook to a sparring match, to which Rook happily accepted. After a long duel, with both sides being very skilled and the outcome uncertain, Rook ended up the victor with a well placed and restrained slash that stopped inches from the neck.
With the SGAA victorious, the outcome of the homecoming was set. What was a surprise to all but two SGAA members was that Tony was homecoming king beside Bella as the queen, which confused Rook.
The dance went well, especially when Memphis kicked in the Gift of Pan. Bella gloated her “victory” over Juan. Tony hugged Memphis and thanked him, turning over to the Seelie side. Rook and Sam danced close together. Everyone danced and no one got eaten or affected by one of Bella's soul eating monster plots.
