It is never easy, no matter how much you *think* you're ready to let them go. But we got about a year and a half longer with her than I ever imagined we would. That's a pretty big gift we were given!
My heart aches for you. What a good life she had with you and your family. And what a gift to help her leave the world so peacefully and surrounded by your love.
Thank you. We were very lucky and blessed to have Mali as our dog. You know, before I got her I was looking for a tri colored male border or Aussie or cross, but I saw her at PetSmart (she was there from Greenhill) and just had that overwhelming This Is My Dog feeling and adopted her. I think we'd gone to PetSmart for fish food, or something :). But I guess the Fates know what they're doing. And I agree that our pets are so lucky we can help them pass on so peacefully, all the while being told how wonderful and awesome they are, rather than have to linger and suffer. I couldn't bear it.
