Thansgiving Reflection and Wick is Wonderful

Thanksgiving was...mellow this year. It was actually - dare I say - pleasant. This year more than before I delegated out dishes and I was only responsible for the deviled eggs, turkey, stuffing, gravy and two kinds of potatoes. We had several people who didn't show, and that was okay. Most of the guests left early and those who remained we played ( Read more... )

I think you have just described Mal and our relationship. It's quiet and unassuming and took me a few years to really appreciate it. And as the next few dogs get exponentially more insane, it makes me love him a little bit more. I hope your puppy is nuts!

Yes! Unassuming. That's the word.

And I know you said that part about hoping my pup is nuts with an evil laugh ;)

I think this is the perfect time to mess everything up and add chaos. Wicket is going to be in love, this I know. You've done a great job with him - while he is innately an awesome being, you enhanced it with all of the work you put into him. :)

Wick will be smitten for sure :), and perfect time, or not, it's going to happen and is almost here.

What a wonderful tribute to Wicket. And what a very good boy. I must say, I felt a bit envious. Yup. Want to know what Ceanna did on Thanksgiving? She ate her own poop. I was coming to pick it up immediately but she gauged the distance and knew she had me so she scarfed it up. And then a few hours later she - wait for it - threw up poop. Onto to my NEW rug. Could it get anymore disgusting? So let me add my kudos to what a wonderful boy Wicket is. And handsome too. Oh and BTW, I laughed when I read you were "only" responsible for deviled eggs, turkey, stuffing, gravy, and 2 kinds of potatoes. LOL.

There's nothing that ruins what might otherwise be an exceptional dog like poop eating. Believe me, I know. Sigh..

Oh dear, I appreciate the empathy but am sorry you've had the experience. I really can handle most poo eating but their own? Nasty.

Wick is a good boy! 5 is really kind of a magical age: maturity, wisdom, experience, and still youthful enough to have fun!

Ceanna, that is just gross. Give your mom a break and knock it off!

There were several years, when for whatever dumb reason I had, I thought I needed to do "everything" for the holidays. Not only was it stressful and tiring, it was bloody expensive! I've finally learned the art of delegation. I've also learned that this family is not a turkey-eating family, so even if I'm having 25 people over a 12 lb turkey is plenty. There had better be a 20 lb ham, however!! And both turkey and ham gravey, or God help me!
