about a week ago I first read the headline 'Deepthroat Revealed' on CNN.com I, perhaps stupidly, assumed it was about Inside Deepthroat a documentary on the 1970s porn phenomenon. i didn't really enjoy "shattered glass." watched it for a media ethics class, and the discussion following it was somewhat lackluster, though.

and yeah, there are free copies of the new york times around campus here, and it i think it is pretty much the greatest mainstream paper, although it could still be better.

yeah, i can see where you're coming from on the movie. I went in thinking it was going to be a pile of shit on celluloid, but I enjoyed several of the actors' portrayals and the story itself was fairly interesting. I think the ethical questions brought up are fairly simple and straightforward. I wouldn't think that it would garner much discussion. Did they have you watch Shock Corridor by Sam Fuller? The critique of journalism in that movie I thought was really strong in that it used themes of proximity to bring out the underlying themes of reality/fantasy, objectivity/subjectivity, and what it is to 'know' something, as well as a scathing critique of America in the 1960s.
