Just got back from Orlando, where I got a pair of new shoes for the first time in over a year. My old pair has several holes in the sole of each shoe and started to leak really bad if I stepped into any amount of water/juice, which was really bad when I had a pretty big spill of some noxious chemicals in the studio a few weeks ago

As for the good that various activities can do people, I often think about that myself. I came to the conclusion that computer science really is not something that, standing by itself, can hope to accomplish much of anything; it's a means to an end, not an end in and of itself. Computer scientists are enablers more than anything, helping to make other areas of endeavor easier. So, the people for whom I choose to apply my skills (once I'm educated enough to consider them "skills") will have much more to do with whether or not I'm doing what I consider good than the specific work I'm doing will.
Here's hoping you can find some way to apply your skill in art that makes it feel less like you're dealing with commodities. See you soon - Monday or Tuesday perhaps?
