In-depth Synopse: Mukuro is a fifteen year boy with a great hate for the mafia. As a child, he was experimented on (as other children at the time were) as an attempt for bring back glory to his family (the Estraneo). The family lost their favor because of their development for the Possession Bullet. This bullet allowed one to posses another body, but this bullet in particular was seen in a bad light in the mafia. But how long can someone take being experimented on by their own family? Well let's ask Mukuro.
There comes a point in someone's life when there's a limit as to much one can take. A breaking point. One day, Mukuro killed those who had held him in the laboratory. In his killing spree, he was sighted by Ken and Chikusa. The two other boys were experimented on as well, and together, they planned an escape. Chikusa and Ken followed Mukuro in his plan to destroy the world that once bound him to pain, experiments, and other unpleasant thoughts and deeds.
Soon after, he was taken in by another mafia family. And there, he was able to test out his power. In the family, he took the control of a male named Lancia. He caused the male to kill off his entire family that he cherished dearly. They were his everything and Mukuro caused Lancia to kill the people most important to him. And under this control, he made Lancia believe that he was Mukuro and went around, identifying himself as such. And with this, they were able to make a jailbreak with Ken and Chikusa (and Lancia) the day before the real Mukuro was to be murdered.
In his fight against with Tsuna (he fought Hibari before hang and captured Fuuta), he was able to show of his ability, the Six Paths of Reincarnation. He is able to use this ability with his right eye which is red and with the corresponding number. This is assumed to have become a part of him when he was undergoing the experimentation by his family. In short, the Six Realms are:
01; Hell: power of illusions.
02; Hungry Ghosts: power to use others skills, and when he posses their body, he's able to use their abilities.
03; Animals: power to summon animals (not fluffy bunnies).
04; Asura: power that increases his combat skills.
05; Humans: power to increase his strength and an aura around him that resembles the Dying Will Flame. This Realm, Mukuro hates because it represents humans and is the most dangerous.
06; Heaven: power to control others. In most cases, he will always have the six one in his eye.
And even though it's illegal, he does posses the Possession Bullet. With this bullet in the gun and shot to the head, he can posses multiple people (as long as they were cut with his trident) and use the Six Realms.
After his fight with Tsuna, he is captured and is taken to the highest ranked place of captivity (Vendicare) with Ken and Chikusa. The boys escape once again, but Mukuro tells them that they will be a burden to him if they travel together, so he stays behind and lets himself get captured. So basically, he's tied up and floating in water. But that's not the end of him. Through telepathy, he was able to contact Nagi (aka Chrome) out of random chance. Even though she was on her death bed, she agreed to be one with him. So because of their 'contract' he supplies her with illusionary organs, he can temporarily posses her, making contact with the world once more. And in this form, Tsuna's father approached him and asked him to be the Guardian of the Mist. This was in exchange for Chikusa and Ken's safety.
Mukuro doesn't care about others and sees other people as his toys. He doesn't care if someone is hurt and when he's possessing someone, he will use them until their breaking point.
With the experimentation by his own mafia family, he holds a strong dislike for them. But that doesn't help that he's been exiled from the mafia was well. So it's a little contradictory that he wants nothing to do with the
family, but will help Tsuna and will be the Guardian of the Mist. Although, his reason for that is so he can be close to Tsuna and posses him when he's not aware. Something more here? I think so.
Along with his illusion skills, he is very gifted in combat. He chooses a Trident as his weapon. This is the weapon he shares with Chrome. And since he is a part of her, when things get too rough for him to handle,
he'll tell his 'pet' that he'll take over. But when he does, he uses a lot of his power and he slips back into the darkness. Although, even though he says he doesn't care about others, it's hard to tell if he's lying or not,
considering he sacrificed himself to save Ken and Chikusa and helps Chrome survive.
The boy is intelligent and knows just about all of the information there is to know about the mafia. Information doesn't slip past him very easily.

First Person: Other experiment is it? Some sort of illusion, simulation... But this is not an illusion. Unless.. they shipped me off to some unknown land without me knowing. This is not Italy and this is not Japan. But I remember everything. Fighting for the Vongola and his Ring of Mist, which is in my possession. This world, is different. And I assume I will find out why later.
Humans are digusting and pitful~
Third Person: Mukuro, with a smirk on his face, looked out a window. He was bored. He didn't mind the conditions of his home, but there wasn't much to do. Of course, he could just go out and have fun and take over people. Causing a world war has always been his dream. But how can you possess a presence that seems overpowering, but isn't in physical form and doesn't let itself known too often. He had been informed of that much. Even if Ken and Chikusa weren't around, the talk of the people in the city would leak the information that he needed to know. Although, he could trust Chikusa and Ken's word more than these people. At least, those two, his toys, wouldn't betray him. But to play out a scene as elegantly as he could, who else could pass up that chance? It would be soon he would get his revenge on this world and to the mafia as well. Of course, that was the reason why he was here right? This was probably another one of their experiments. At least, this time, it seemed to be painless and more so of a game.
But there was one thing he didn't quite understand.
How is he able to stand here in this world? He was captured and locked up... and was only able to maintain a human form in Chrome. The girl didn't call upon him. Well whatever. It didn't matter. What did matter was that he was here. And outside of that, nothing else mattered. Not even his 'allies' Ken and Chikusa and not even his 'little cute' Chrome. It wasn't like he needed them anyway.
