It's okay to feel that way but even if you aren't sexually active you should have things checked out occasionally. It's especially good to get one done before you're sexually active so they know what your insides are like (yeah, I know that sounds gross.) Not being sexually active doesn't mean you can't still have signs of uterine/cervical/ovarian cancer or common things like cysts. I had to get an emergency pelvic exam before I even lost my virginity or even started masturbating because I did have ovarian cysts. (I thought my appendix was bursting, that's how bad it hurt.)
It's like the dentist. Just because you don't chew glass or eat candy doesn't mean you never go to the dentist. It's a (slightly icky) part of you but it still needs to get looked at, even if there's nothing wrong with it.
And if you let them know you've never been sexually active, don't regularly stick things up there, etc... They should be kind enough to use the small duck and lube it up. They did that for me.
I think it's normal to be freaked out when she didn't even ask you. If you have to go, make sure you really talk to the doctor about your touch issues; I've had gynos who say barely anything throughout the entire process and others who talk you through it even if you've done it half a dozen times before. Ask for the smaller versions of everything they need to insert, and to use extra lube. Make sure your voice is heard for this.
Fortunately, most pelvic exams are like... three minutes, tops? But I know that's not much comfort when the length of time isn't the issue.
