It would have been easy to get lost in the shuffle of boys if he hadn't had a guide. But Aiba DID have a guide and his only problem was in his guide getting lost. He was such a tiny kid. "Hey!" he called, darting through a knot of boys, "hey-um, you!"

The tiny kid turned. "Matsumoto," he said. "Matsumoto Jun."

Aiba stopped entirely for a fraction of a fraction of a second. That tiny kid had a pretty big name. It was kind of hilarious but somehow it went well with the air of command the kid carried. "MatsuJun," he slurred the name together, hurrying it accidentally as he hurried to catch up to Matsumoto Jun. "I'm Aiba Masaki," he introduced himself.

He'd kind of forgot his question but he forgot even about forgetting it as Jun turned a smile on him that was so huge it took up fully half his face. "You'll get used to it," he said and it took Aiba two days to realize that Matsumoto meant Johnny's and not his heart stopping smile.

Aiba thought a lot about that day, those few minutes, on the day of their debut. "MatsuJun?" he asked into the quiet of the Hawaiian hotel room. They each had their own room but tonight Jun was bunking in with him.

In the dark and in the quiet came the sound of sheets shifting, Jun rolling over to face him. "Yeah?"

He caught his breath for a second and then, in a rush, "Do you think we'll get used to this?" Jun was silent for a long time. "MatsuJun?"

"Yeah," Jun said at last. "I guess we will."

Aiba sat up and shoved his blankets off, scrambling from his bed to the one that Jun was tucked into. "And then we won't be nervous or terrified," Aiba said, like a promise, as he slid in beside Jun.

"I joined to debut," Jun reminded him but he was shivering faintly as Aiba wrapped himself around him.

He'd known for years that Jun liked boys. Of all the things Aiba had learned in Johnny's, in M.A.I.N., in Arashi, that was probably one of the earliest. He didn't even remember how he found out. Which made it really weird when he discovered that he liked boys. Or at least, he liked one boy.

"I like you, MatsuJun," he repeated. His voice didn't tremble any less but it was a little less hysterical sounding.

Jun was staring at him. He shook himself, like a dog coming out of the rain. "I have to go," he said.

"Jun-"

"No, really, I-there's filming. I'm supposed to be on set. There's this scene with Mao-"

"I know!" Aiba was frazzled, dazzled, struck dumb. What the hell was he doing, he wondered silently. "I know you do. I'm supposed to be doing print work for some advert. I didn't mean- I only-I like you."

Jun shook himself again, his whole being shaking. "No. That's. You know-I can't. Now. I have this-"

He knew, he really did. "Yeah, no, I get it. I just…A lot." He couldn't stop himself. Not a minute ago and not that second either. "I really like you."

Nodding jerkily, Jun stepped back and back and back. "Yeah. I-I got that. Aiba. I have to-" and he made a flailing motion, all growth-spurt-awkward grace, at the door behind them. "I have to."

Aiba shook his head so hard that his hair got in his eyes and stung. "Go. That's. I didn't mean to say anything. It was just-" Just that Jun had been so beautiful for a moment, his old smile finally on his face again-taking up half his face again. He'd been the softly uncertain, plugging-along kid and Aiba's heart had turned over and Aiba had made a startling realization and he'd done it out loud.

In front of his whole band.

Thankfully Ohno and Sho and Nino were ignoring them fully and staring only at their lunches, not even making eye contact. Aiba was grateful. "I just said it," he finished lamely.

Jun nodded again, his head bobbing, his whole body kind of moving with the force of it as he stepped back again, his hand on the door knob. "That's…okay. That's. I have. Filming. I have to-"

Aiba flapped his hands feeling so stupid, so beyond stupid. "Go! I have work. We both have work. This was. Nothing. It's nothing. It's-go."

The knob twisted and then, suddenly, Jun was across the room and Aiba felt the brief wash of warm breath on his cheek and then the soft pressure of lips at the corner of his mouth. "I-" Jun said, and then he was gone, at the door, in the hall. "I like you, too."

It took several long moments of Jun being long gone before Aiba could unlock his knees enough to sit down, nearly squashing Nino, who kept on ignoring him. "Maybe I'll get used to it," he said quietly.

He kind of hoped he wouldn't.
