Displaced Pilot
After playing his part in the Inara-Rescue, Derek had wandered around Serenity aimlessly, staying out of people's way. He didn't know what he could do, really. The medical stuff was being taken care of by Simon, and Zoe had run of the ship while Mal was out of comission...he hadn't seen Kaylee around much since Steel showed up, and Sadie mostly kept to the bridge with Pug.
So it's been him and his baby, sticking mainly to the cargo bay and, er, snuggling. Today, he's sitting in the restored cockpit, glad to have the ship back to the way it always was.
He not doing much, really, just siting and staring and maybe going through photos of folks back home that he had in his memory core.
