I hope everyone is as excited as
boy_named_susie and I are about tomorrow. Tomorrow is our first challenge, our first official opening as it was. So naturally, there are a few little things to say before we kick this baby off.
First off, big thanks to everyone who answered the
Introduction post. I think we all got to know a lot about each other and some great conversations came out of it. I am still trying to play catch up but I will read and respond to everyone.
Second, since tomorrow is our big opening day, if you are new, we ask that you mosey on over to the
The Rules. They are pretty simple and pretty much common sense.
Third, we are doing graduated voting in this community. (See rules above if you don't know what that means). But in addition,
boy_named_susie and myself are not eligible for voting. We hope this will deter people from voting for us just cause we are the mods. Between this and the graduated voting, it means that people have a better chance to actually win something for their hard work. :)
Fourth,
boy_named_susie and I have prompts prepared through June. Since we are starting mid-Feb, these first two weeks will be rather generic in their design. But March, April, and May will have themes. Yes! Themes! Now while we have an idea for themes and for prompts, we still will need the community to suggest things after the first one gets the ball rolling. Because we have to look for screencaps for the challenges, on the first of the month, we will announce the month and ask for prompts as well as asking again when a new prompt is posted Friday. (Did that make sense? LOL)
Lastly, is the whole tagging and posting to the comm issue. Much like one of our affiliates, we want people to post to the comm just in case your journal gets deleted or something happens. Also, it is just generally to promote community spirit. You know, keeping it all here, with the posting, the comments, etc. Of course, totally share your stuff EVERYPLACE you can cause that is the part of the fun of it, am I right?
Tagging is important too so that people can actually find stuff. We have it set up so everyone can add tags and the tags list is right on the journal in case you get confused. So I will just randomly do examples (mostly because that is how I learn the best.)
First example, fiction. Header taken out of the rules.
Title: My Example
Author: Kelly (xlivvielockex or whatever you want here)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 372
Prompt: Smarties (000)
Pairing (if any): None but characters are Angel, Wesley, Fred
So my tags would be: 000, xlivvielockex, Angel, Wesley, Fred, ATS, ficlet, pg.
Or:
Title: Another Example

Now icons!
If I submitted say the max of 10 icons in one post and they were 2 Buffy icons, 3 Mal/Inara icons, 1 Spike icon, and 4 Gunn icons, for the prompt 000 and they were all tame (no bad words or such) :
My tags would be: 000, xlivvielockex, Buffy, Mal/Inara, Mal, Inara, Spike, Gunn, ATS, BTVS, Firefly, icons, G
If this doesn't make sense, please leave a comment.
Again guys, thanks for joining.
boy_named_susie and I weren't sure when we started this place if anyone would join but I see some really great writers out there. And hopefully, once we get the ball rolling, we will get some other great writers.
Please, feel free to leave questions, comments, concerns. :)
