Hold her to you, for she is part of you, as we all are part of each other. ~The Dark Crystal

Lani didn't really have words for him, but she kept close. Held his hand on the plane ride. Kissed his cheek.

When they arrived, she kept to herself a bit, but didn't stray far from Sheldon. She wanted to let him have his time with his family, but she wanted to be close if he needed her. There were many moments that he reached for her hand, and she was there to give it to him.

She held him that night as they lay in bed. Touched his cheek and stroked his back. Her lips brushed his gently and kissed his jaw. Anything to ease him to sleep.

She woke him up with a cup of coffee ready for him. She had already gotten his suit out and wrinkle-free for him. Anything to help him start the day.

She straightened his tie and brushed her hands over his shoulders. Her hands cupped his cheeks when he leaned in for a slow kiss. She remained close to him when the kiss ended, then took his hand once more. Anything to help.

She stayed at his side as much as she could. Stepped away when it was appropriate. Held his hand. Squeezed his hand.

His eyes kept locked with hers when he tried to speak of his uncle. She held the gaze tightly, anything to help him get through.

She stuck by him, giving any physical comfort she could give him. She didn't have words. She didn't do well with death. Ironic with the job she had, but work was one thing. It was another when it came closer.

The cemetery was bright. The air warm. They were to meet the rest of the family back at the house, but he wanted to linger. She waited. Waited as long as he needed. Waited while he told her about his uncle.

When he was ready to go he faced her and looked into her eyes. She looked back, searching for what he needed. He stepped closer and her arms went around his neck. She held him close and kissed the side of his head softly. She leaned into him, his arms tight around her waist. Her eyes closed and she sighed, leaning closer to his ear.

"I love you," she murmured. Anything for him to understand that.
