Things I love about Teen Wolf (or, why my summer vacation included a show on MTV set around a bunch of werewolves in high school):
Don't be fooled that this is going to be some well thought-out piece of eloquence. It's pretty much just ramble-y flailing and an overlong treatise on architecture. Also, there are spoilers going up through all aired eps

Those behind the scenes photos are so so cute! Yay, thanks for sharing. Derek's actor is such a goof! It makes me want gag reels.

I'm just so ridiculously charmed by them all. How can the entire darn cast be that adorable?

Oh dear. It's a new level of fannishness when you start adoring the actors as well as the characters.

I hadn't even thought of looking up the actors on twitter, but you've convinced me to. And I love your thoughts in this.

I haven't really been fannish for a while now, and this is bringing back all those crazy feelings.
I hear you! There are still shows that I watch the daylights out of, but the only other one that makes me want to do bad things to it is Sherlock (and frankly half the time writing for it intimidates the living hell out of me). TW, though... it's like the perfect crack for my fannish id. There's an ensemble! And they're all uniquely awesome! Everybody has lots of feelings! There is much peril! *g*
Dare I say that the last two episodes were good TV?
No, no, I was thinking it, too! Like, I finished last night's and realized I was legitimately clutching things and leaning forward. They've leveled up in quality somewhere in there. Even the special effects in the clip from next week's are kind of great. *blinks*
And the actors... They're doing that whole Q&A thing after the eps now, right? And I would normally just cherry-pick the neat quotes and gifs via fandom and keep a healthy barrier there, but I am all over these ( ... )

You perfectly describe why I love this show so much, especially in how differently I love it in comparison to Sherlock. I think it's hard to be super fannish about Sherlock, if only because the post-episode frenzies are so short lived. We get a three episodes and then nothing for a year (or more) and it's tough for me to stay engaged in that kind of environment. The fiction coming out of that fandom is outstanding, and I continue to read it and love it, but I don't feel much of a connection with the fandom itself.
Teen Wolf gets me where SGA got me. Goofy, wannabe-drama, team show, basically, with some cringe-worthy plots but characters that grab on and won't let to. TBH, I think this show is doing better with their female characters (oh, SGA). I think I read somewhere that the creators are trying to make a world with no sexism, racism, homophobia, etc. I...don't know if I can get behind that 100%, if only because those things are such a part of my life and their absence sometimes becomes a thing, the elephant in ( ... )

i had three episodes on vcr for some reason when i was eight? i watched them over and over and desired all of the HUGE MOBILE PHONES and sassy dialogue. THIS IS MYSTERIOUS BECAUSE I LIVE IN AUSTRALIA AND I DON'T THINK IT WAS EVER SCREENED HERE.
(actually my half-sisters visited their dad when he lived in the usa pretty regularly around then, so mystery solved, i guess.)
THE POINT IS I KNEW I RECOGNISED STILES' DAD BUT I COULDN'T WORK OUT FROM WHERE SO THANK YOU FOR SCRATCHING THAT ITCH
also I trailed you through AO3 because dang if borges isn't perfect for derek and stiles and dang if i don't love what you did with them.
do you have tumblr? there's a whole teen wolf fandom blowing up over there, if you like gifs of tyler hoechlin's face.

YES, THIS. I mean, the effects were terrible and the budget was obviously tiny, but damn did I not care. Watching that episode reminded me of all the awesome little asides that they fit in, and just how great the banter was. I'd honestly forgotten how much I loved it, and Lorne Cash in particular. There is nothing sadder than the realization that a show is so totally gone that you can't even rewatch it. :(
On the other hand, the world is a tiny and wonderful place, that two people on different continents can geek out over a show that aired for half a second, fifteen years ago. :)
DEFS STILES' PARENTS YOU WERE RIGHT
RIGHT? Like, he gets his snark from Lorne, and his practicality from Max, and his inability to stay the hell out of trouble from both of them. I can't get over how he even looks like a blend of the two. And Lorne as Sheriff Stilinski isn't even a stretch, with their world weariness ( ... )

The scene in the youtube ep where he's empathizing with the robot and the line from TW about the difference between arson and murder, just... same person
YES YES AND WHEN MAX GOT SICK AND NOTHING, NO CALLS TO THE PRESIDENT OR MAGIC GADGETS WOULD HELP, HE JUST CUT HIMSELF OFF FROM THAT WORLD BECAUSE IT HURT TOO MUCH
HE STILL SOMETIMES GETS BOTTLES OF VODKA IN THE POST AND THE LABEL USUALLY HAS A CODED LETTER FROM MICAH OFFERING TO DO HIS TAX RETURN AND HE DOESN'T REPLY TO BUT HE DOES LEAVE PHOTOS OF STILES IN A DEADDROPBOX BECAUSE STILES HAS HER EYES
no i'm not crying i've just got teen wolf in my eyes
i'm sorry but you're going to have to write it.
and i solemnly take on the responsibility of beta reader.
*chin hands*

I anticipate my tumblr will be the equivalent of "Oo! Shiny thing! Shiny thing! Squirrel!" once it has real content, just to warn you. Given that it's me, the squirrel part might even include actual squirrels.
