So... after a year studying anthropology and all its word-play I've been on hiatus from writing for the last few months. I think I am starting to feel the itch to write again, but until it strikes me I've only got 2 things to mention here

I have become interested in long exposure times recently. I want to get a tripod & a shutter release. I have some good ideas for some projects.

As for the long exposures, I've found that I don't really need a shutter release, or at least i haven't needed one yet. What i usually do it set the camera on manual, with the aperature as closed-down as possible and then use the self-timer. With a shitty 2$ tripod from petite-rien, this has worked well.
So for instance, f22 for 20 seconds on a tripod. if you set the timer then the camera doesn't move from you pushing the shutter release. I imagine your Minolta will shoot up to 30 seconds on manual, the light meter can probably do a decent job as well.
As for doing this digitally... I don't know what kind of options you have, but it's alot easier when you can see the outcome and adjust.

I stupidly left my camara in Brussels. Would you go and get it for me, and bring it back? ;o)
When I have it, I have some good ideas. Or maybe I will go and invest in a good digital one, because your last point above is a good one...
