[Another day, and Riku's feeling fairly bored. He hasn't had a lot to say over the journals as of late, but hey, it's been a while. And with such an... interesting cycle, he might as well say something.

So, Lucetians, witness Riku as he boredly looks into this magical book and speaks.]So. I think it's pretty obvious that Luceti's got some ' ( Read more... )

I think they're fine. It's nothing I'm familiar with from my world so it's a little strange, but I've gotten used to it now.

As for the second question, I guess it would depend on what I learned.

Yeah, I can see how it'd take some getting used to. When I first got here, it was a lot to take in.

And you've got a point about the second question. The reason I'm asking is because I did find out about my future, and it wasn't exactly pretty. Learning that you turn against your friends is pretty rough. And then there's the issue of changing the future. Making it better for yourself could make it worse for everyone else.

It's all pretty complicated.

There's danger in knowing too much and as you say, there's danger in changing the future. Butterfly effect, basically.

Same for the past. Even if there are things I wish I could change, you don't know how it might affect the present.

Sometimes it's better to just move forward. It's easy to look back and wish things had been different, but there's no changing what's already been done.

Is it truly possible to change a future that's already occurred; or do you merely change the form of the thing while the essence remains? Do you only fight if the prediction is unhappy, and follow it blindly if it promises good fortune?

Good or bad, the future is better unknown. If you live life only looking ahead for answers, you neglect the present. That isn't living.

I figure nothing's set in stone. The future hasn't happened yet, and it really depends on what you do in the present. Still, fighting to change the future might sound good on paper, but I know it's more complicated than that. You can't make everything better by changing a few things around.

[At least in the grand scheme of things.]

It's easier to live without knowing what'll happen next. I agree with you on that. I know that when I found out my future, it made everything so complicated.

And if it was set in stone?

[Van is truly and honestly fascinated. Here is a person that has never lived under the sway of the Score. And yet... even though he says the future isn't absolute, he still expresses doubts about changing it. Intriguing... and worrisome.]

Hard to believe it could be. The future isn't concrete. It hasn't happened yet.

The problem is, trying to change it is risky. You never know how it'll affect everyone else.

[A pause. And then he adds...]

But sometimes it's still a risk worth taking.

Depends if they're evil or not, right?

[In relation to other species or races]

Thing is, can a whole species be evil by nature?

[He's not implying whether he thinks so or not; mostly just curiosity on his part.]

Lurks can, but I dunno if I'd call 'em a species.

It's pretty fucking weird to meet say, a talking dog, but I've fought angels before so I guess I don't have much room to complain anymore.

[...And became an angel himself but he might not even be aware of that.]

Angels, huh? Can't say I've had experience with them myself.

You don't really want to.

Huh. They dangerous?

[Kind of odd; he'd always figured angels were good and pure... or something.]

It is certainly possible for different races to live in peace. It does not mean that it is easy.

Definitely. It's never easy. Differences in anything can lead to conflict, even something as simple as an opinion.

And an imbalance between the groups can quickly lead to one subjugating the other. Integration has not et been achieved, where I am from.

Well, it's probably hard to achieve. And even if there is peace for a while, who knows if it'll last? There's always at least one person who'll keep hating that other group.
