I'm trying to put together a list of web resources for this community. I'm especially interested in other LJ communities, informative posts, FAQs, or other websites we can point people to for Jew 101, Judaism 101, antisemitism 101, Holocaust 101, etc.-- places we can politely direct the clueless, fill in our own blank spots about our diversity ( Read more... )

I'm pretty fond of jewfaq.org for basic Judaism information.

Thank you! I just looked it over and that it's a great site to point people to for a lot of basic info. Definitely useful. I like that the writer states so clearly up front where he's coming from and doesn't take it for granted.

In terms of fannish lj communities, I am a huge fan of daysofawesome (a place for cool Jewish fannish stuff during, and related to, the Days of Awe) and purimgifts (a Purim fic/art gift-giving comm.)

(I don't know whether these are the kinds of things you're interested in, but I'm mentioning them just in case you are. :-)

I remember seeing those--thanks for the reminder. Links to them definitely fit what I think should go on such a page.

My first source, I admit, is usually wikipedia.

Back in October, I made one of those "common knowledge" posts about Israel, and it touches some of the issues, but on a very light and superficial level...

I've also, on occasion, taken stuff from mideastweb.org. Here's their Israeli-Palestinian Conflict in a nutshell page.

Well, here's a few of my favorites (I have tried to avoid any sites which come from a particular denomination's viewpoint; I am not sure if that makes a difference to y'all.)

Holocaust 101
An excellent overview (with links for further study) on the U.S. Holocaust Museum site:
