[From the look of the scenery, Aya is under a shade tree in Espoir. She sits with her back against the trunk, the breeze brushing her hair against her neck.]

Last month it was Omi. This month, Sena.

One by one, it seems my family here is disappearing. It's unsettling, a little. Who's next, will it happen on the same schedule... I wonder.

Oh, Luffy, I don't think I can. I haven't even met him outside of Somarium, and I'm not sure I'll get the chance. If we don't keep our memories of here once we return home...

[The firmness in Luffy's voice is attention-grabbing. His words are just heartbreaking. It does make her think of something, though.]

...Luffy, what is it that you want to remember, so you can change it?

[She's caught Ken in the middle of tidying his bedroom.

[It's probably a good thing she made the post now and not, say, half an hour previously. That's why Ken's tidying his bedroom. He's glad for the excuse to stop, though - and maybe talking about it will make him feel a little better than throwing stuff at other stuff did. Sighing, he sits down on his unmade bed, holding the Dreamberry in both hands.]

Mostly I throw stuff.

[Don't think she doesn't see that mess, Ken. Or that she's unable to put two and two together, because she knows you knew these guys pretty well too. One of them far better than she did. And if she's upset about what's to happen to him...]

[No, didn't think I'd get that one past you, Aya.

[Ken looks away for a moment, glancing around himself at the disordered room, then back down at the Dreamberry. He sighs again.]

Not really.

[Or at all, really.]

[You've had plenty of time to learn.]

I kind of thought as much.

[She looks away, quiet for just a moment.]

Wanna grab a couple scoops? Ice cream's usually a pretty good mood-fixer.

You...just have to hope for the best I guess, I guess.

Sadly...there doesn't seem to be a way to know if they're okay or not...

[Aya can only nod to that. It's too true. Painfully true.]

You know, what really hurts about this is... what happens is something he chooses. Knowing that things could be so much better for him if he'd only allow them to be... But even when I had the chance to talk to him about it, he's so adamantly convinced... it's like he doesn't even know how to consider his own happiness.

[That hits a bit too close to home. What with his own situation, what he knows awaits him when he leaves and what happened to Axel...]

There's... not much you can do. Sometimes it's easier to keep your mind off it but it's still the same in the end.

I was kind of afraid of that. What've you found to help in keeping your mind off of things you shouldn't think about so much?

Well, I keep myself active though I mostly just train or skateboard. Depends on the person.

All you can do is persevere.

It sounds harsh but it's something we all experience. We move on from what's happened and allow ourselves to grow stronger because of it. Whether someone returns or if they're been taken from us forever, we have to face each day with a smile and do our best - for their sake.

...That doesn't sound harsh. It's really helpful.

[She scrubs her eyes to dry them of the tears starting to well up.]

You're right. That is something I can do for him. Even if it's not changing the outcome for him, it's what he wants...

The benefit of being here is that one day, you might see them again.

So continue to live your life here but keep that flicker of hope alive. You know he'll be happy to see you when he returns.
