Xanth is fond of Aara. She reminds him of himself, and that makes him want to protect her, to give her the soft landing he never had before his world was destroyed. He's also recognized that she's a pretty girl. There is a little bit of attraction there, but he doesn't think of her that way, not really. She's too timid and he's too hung up on another girl.
Bobby Drake | mister_10_below
Bobby is an excellent friend. Xanth thinks he's funny, entertaining, and very, very cool, and he's seriously glad that Bobby seems to think the same of him. (He's not sure how that happened, but he'll take it.) He trusts Bobby - perhaps a little too quickly, but he can't help how at ease Bobby makes him feel. He'd do a lot for Bobby, and he hopes Bobby would do the same for him.
Chelle Vierren | gotyourwallet
Vie straight-up makes Xanth sad. Xanth misses his sister. He wants to avoid reading her posts, but sometimes he can't help himself; he just has to make sure that she's doing alright. One one hand, Xanth wishes she was the Vie who remembered him, but on the other, he's glad she only had to go through the pain of losing her world once. Feeling that loss twice is nigh unbearable.
Chloe Saunders | ghostly_stutter
Chloe is just fun. Xanth thinks very well of her - she's cute, spunky, and doesn't give up even in the face of true hardship. She is pretty much just a normal friend, which is exactly what Xanth wants out of their relationship. Sure, she's another pretty girl and they get on well, but she has a boyfriend and is entirely off-limits. (Besides, Xanth is still hung up on Kairi.)
Ironhide | heavyweaponsbot
Ironhide may as well be Xanth's father. There is extremely little Xanth wouldn't do for Ironhide. What he really wants is for Ironhide to be proud of him, and that desire pushes Xanth to be stronger and to work harder. All the same, as much as Ironhide has cared for Xanth, Xanth wants to return the favor pretty badly. They're family, and so they need to help each other.
Kairi | lightyourway
Xanth loves Kairi with all his heart. She was his first friend, his first crush, and his first kiss. This Kairi may not have experienced that, but he's become her friend once more, and just being near her is enough for him. He tells himself that he's given up hope Kairi will fall for him again, but truthfully, he hasn't. He'll hope 'til the day he dies - for good.
Mimmi Kopanski | missmimmi
Xanth doesn't know Mimmi that well, but he feels obligated to keep an eye on her and make sure she's safe, because she was Gideon's friend. Xanth misses the hell out of Gideon and Mimmi reminds Xanth of him - that, and he knows Gideon would have wanted her safe and happy. Xanth isn't sure what he can do about "happy", but he can try for "safe".
Riku | heroinwait
Riku is perhaps the person Xanth has the most complicated feelings about. He almost trusts Riku, but the trust is quite fragile at this point; one slip back into his old behavior and it'll be over. Riku seems so apologetic, though, and so willing to owe Xanth a favor. Xanth doesn't exactly enjoy holding that power over Riku, not like he thought he might, but he's keeping the favor in mind.
