Slumdog, Casablanca and Dollhouse

Over the last couple of days we've seen a couple of extraordinarily good movies and a pretty good bit of TV. Last night, after seeing Dev Patel appear on Jonathan Ross, we finally decided to give Slumdog Millionaire a go. I'd resisted it purely due to the massive press and award attention it's received, and also because I've never really got on ( Read more... )

Slumdog is very good indeed. I'd also recommend The Reader, of the current bunch of worthies.

You should consider joining Joel, Ray and me at Cineworld some time.

That's very kind of you, Steve. I may take you up on that offer soon. The Reader is on the list of movies to see - I'll get round to it soon.

Cool. Must catch up with Slumgdog at some point. I'd really like to have seen Casablanca on the big screen, but I did end up enjoying Evita, as you can read on my LJ.

Watched Slumdog the other night, really enjoyed it, think it's a bit over rated though, can't believe it won 8 Oscars, thought Benjamin Button was a better film really, we love that film.
Just watched Let The Right One In, fantastic stuff, beautifully shot, really haunting and some excellent set piece moments, the swimming pool stuff was awesome ;)
Must give the Electric a go, Kell and I are always saying we must try it.
You fancy getting together for Watchmen at Cineworld Solihull if it's on at the Delux screen in a few weeks?

Yeah, I agree. As good as Slumdog is, Button is more our sort of movie really!
Glad you enjoyed Let The Right One In. I knew you'd love it once you saw it. It's still lodged in my head, weeks after seeing it. Just read the book, which is like a director's cut, covering the bits they just couldn't put into the film.
Electric are showing Let The Right One IN next month, so we may go see it as Amanda is yet to see it.
And yes to Watchmen. Was gonna call you about it actually. Imax in Brum aren't doing it so, Cineworld will be the way to go. Maybe we can get together next weekend? Me and ade are at a Chet Baker play thing in Lichfield tomorow, but we're available next week, if you're free?

Yup, next weekend is ok with us, will get in touch Fri/Sat to sort it out.
Gutted about Watchmen not being an Imax presentation, up for Cineworld Delux though.
Speak to you next week....♠
