My post-NOLOSE cold never quite left, then managed to merge with allergies in a new and challenging way.  I've had a sore throat to one degree or another for about three weeks ( Read more... )

the neti pot is a great thing! i use mine infrequently, but when i do, i always feel like it's productive. i first used it in march when i had a really bad sinus infection and it totally got the gunk out! you just have to get the head tilt right so you don't drown yourself!

I seem to keep getting my mouth filled up with water and I have to spit. They say to press the back of the tongue against the sinus openings to prevent this, but then I can't breathe! Other than that, I'm loving it ;)

Congrats on being so close! Are you still having Braxton Hicks?

my mouth never fills with water and i don't press my tongue anywhere, but i do have to keep my head tilted a little forward otherwise water would come into the back of my throat.

thanks! i am so excited! it's weird to be so close and still so far, really. a month is nothing in the scheme of things, but a month is long compared to a day! i think i am still having some b-h. not painful, just pressure sometimes, but it often coincides with him moving, so it might just be that. who knows!

Actually, what you describe is exactly what happens to me (the water in the back of the throat, not the contractions ;) So maybe I need to angle my head forward more.

Yay for movement and all of it *

I'll keep experimenting with neti (while Lissette mocks my facial expressions from the shower :)

My life is taken up with my family for a while, but I was thinking that I'd like to gather with friends at this Day of the Dead event on Sun. 11/2: http://www.manoamano.us/

It's at St. Mark's and looks like fun. Wanna go? It would be cool to have a group. Let me know if that works for you *

Hey you! Hi! I hear we will be in the same place at the same time on the evening of a Very Important Day! But possibly not Lissette?

I'm so thrilled to be seeing you soon! And hopefully at a very happy event :) Will Patrick be coming, too?

Congrats on starting your adoption process, with all its many complications. You two are such a beautiful family for the right kid *

Are you around NYC on the 2nd? There's some cool Dia de los Muertos stuff happening at St. Mark's church: http://www.manoamano.us/ I'm planning on going to the Sunday events. Let me know if you're interested.

Oh, and Lissette will be joining us, but she may be late. She'll be flying in from Miami that night. (Don't worry, she did an absentee ballot already - though she won't tell me who she voted for. Hmmm!)

YAY! Lissette! and yes Patrick is coming too. I think we'll be getting to NYC late on Sunday so can't make the Dia de los muertos event - I wish we could! it looks great.

SO EXCITED to see you!!!

I think I'll be there too! I've been meaning to write and say that I think often about your health and wellbeing! Then I forget to write.

The Day of the Dead thing sounds cool. Patti Smith is at the Met that day at 7:00 to boot!

There as in, where? Will you be in town? That would be so great! If so and if you have time, I want to see you *

Thanks so much. I feel like things are settling down now, which is good. I heard that you went through some rough things over the summer, and was sorry to hear about it *

So I'm sending you good thoughts (and wellbeing vibes, too :)

I figured that it would be great to watch the results come in at Mulberry's. I would have to get up at, like, 5 the next day to get to work on time, but hey... I think we should play a drinking game where we drink everytime that McCain wins a state. If all goes well, we won't be too hungover. If it doesn't, we'll want to be unconscious for a few days at least.

Whoo-hoo! Can't wait to see you!

Drinking game - yes! (Must come up with phrases :)
